The City Council establishes a special device to protect children and promote physical distancing (24/04/2020)

| The Gran Vía will be closed to road traffic every Sunday that the confinement is prolonged, in order to promote physical distancing | The Murcia City Council has planned a special device before the decree that will allow the little ones to go for a walk starting next Sunday, with two priority objectives: to act with the utmost caution to protect minors and promote physical distancing.Before a decision made by the Government of Spain, the City Council recalls that the street outing of minors must be carried out "with the utmost prudence" and stresses that it is essential to "keep the physical distance of one and a half to two meters, the frequent hand washing and maintain very strict hygiene in the use of physical spaces.

”The municipal device includes four main points:- Close to road traffic on the Gran Vía every Sunday that the confinement is prolonged to promote physical distance.- Deep cleaning and disinfection of pedestrian areas and environments.- Revision of the trees in parks and gardens to avoid falling branches.- Opening of Murcia Río and the Greenway of the South Coast (Los Dolores, San José de la Vega, Beniaján, Torreagüera and Los Ramos) to also promote social distancing.Minors up to 14 years old must always be accompanied by an adult who lives with them.

They can go for a walk or play in an environment of a maximum of 1 km around their home.

The established schedule is from 9 a.m.

to 9 p.m.Safety and disinfectionThe device includes the revision of the trees in the different parks and gardens of the municipality in order to guarantee the safety of the users of these spaces.As for the specific cleaning and disinfection device, it will be developed in pedestrian areas so that minors can walk from Sunday in complete safety.In this way, areas such as squares, saloon streets and pedestrian streets will be prioritized, spaces where it is expected that there will be more influx of children.In addition to disinfecting the public thoroughfare, urban furniture such as banks and litter bins will be cleaned, both in the town center and districts.This special device will start this morning and will run throughout the day tomorrow, Saturday.Some of the areas that make up the planning of this specific disinfection plan in the urban area are the Garden of Fame, the Plaza Santa Isabel, the Malecon, Murcia Río, Paseo Fotógrafo Verdú, Alfonso X, Plaza de la Universidad and Avenida de Liberty, among others.The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, has indicated that "our cleaning and disinfection plan is adapting to the different needs that arise as new decrees are established and now our priority is the spaces through which children can walk to from Sunday ”."We remember that, according to those established by the central government, we can make use of playgrounds, we must maintain physical distance and we must wash our hands before and after the walk," said Pérez.The Cleaning and Disinfection Plan is developed continuously from Friday before the state of alarm was decreed throughout the municipal area in which it operates daily and constantly.This device has about 200 vehicles, including 10 high-capacity tanks, and performs its tasks every day, from Monday to Sunday, carrying out its tasks with greater intensity at critical points, which are those with the highest influx of people, such as in hospital, supermarket and pharmacy settings.The operators are using for the cleaning and disinfection of the municipality a product of sodium hypochlorite - colloquially known as bleach.

It is a concentration that is characterized by having a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and by being fast bactericidal, without leaving any type of toxic residue.Specifically, the concentration is active chlorine diluted in water of 1,000 ppm (1,000 parts per million).

To carry out their tasks, disinfection operators are provided with raincoats, masks, gloves and protective glasses.
