The investigation began last week, when the Benemérita detected, thanks to citizen collaboration, that continuous discharges into the public sanitation network were taking place, specifically in a azarbe in the capital. The Civil Guard activated the protocol established for these cases and mobilized the members of the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) who, together with agents from the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS), inspected the place where the remains of the spill were found and the company appends to it, in order to verify the facts and establish the traceability of the spill. Once at the scene, the agents identified the manager of the company from which the spills were allegedly emanating.

During the inspection, after analyzing the sewerage network, it was found that there were also remains of a similar yellowish substance in the stormwater network to that found in the Randombe Merancho, for which reason water samples were taken for subsequent analysis in order to determine if they could cause substantial damage to water quality. These are discharges that can deteriorate the quality of the water or the drainage conditions of the receiving channel, carried out without the corresponding authorization. The civil guards continued with the action and denounced the manager of the company for infraction regulated in the Water Law, Royal Legislative Decree 1/2001, of July 20.

The infringement can be sanctioned with a fine of up to one million euros, depending on the impact on the order and use of the hydraulic public domain, its importance in terms of the safety of people and property, as well as the circumstances of the person responsible.
