The Murcia City Council, through the Housing service of the Department of the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, will approve tomorrow on Wednesday in the Governing Board the exemption, during the months of April and May, of the rent of the rental of housing for the tenants of the municipal park.
Currently, the municipal park is made up of 1,005 homes, distributed in the urban area of Murcia (neighborhoods of Infante Juan Manuel and Espinardo) and in 28 districts of the municipal area.
This measure, which will represent a total of 162,000 euros during the months of April and May, will be adopted in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree-Law 11/2020, of March 31, which adopts urgent complementary measures in the social and economic environment to deal with COVID-19.
The adoption of this agreement will allow families living in municipal social housing to face other basic needs while the health crisis lasts, which, in turn, leads to an economic crisis that affects the most vulnerable groups in the municipality.
Once the Governing Board gives the green light to this decision, the Housing service that Paqui Pérez directs will communicate by letter to the tenants the terms of the average adopted for their tranquility.
"It is our responsibility as an administration to shoulder our shoulders to alleviate this economic crisis by helping the families that need it most at such critical moments and that this rent money stays in their pockets allowing them to cover basic needs," said the head of the Seniors, Disability and Development Cooperation.
