UCAM buys polypropylene fabric to make 25,000 robes for the SMS (06/04/2020)

More than 30 Yecla furniture factories and Molina leather factories will make the garments with this special protection material, purchased for 18,000 euros, which will then be collected by the Murcian Health Service for health personnel.

The Catholic University of Murcia, in coordination with the Murcian Health Service, has donated 18,000 euros in special polypropylene fabric so that 25,000 protective gowns can be made for health workers.

It is the most necessary material at the moment for these professionals, as the SMS to the educational institution has specified.

In order for them to be produced with the utmost immediacy, the robes will be made by thirty companies in the furniture sector in Yecla and one in the manufacture of leather garments from Molina de Segura, which will make them at its headquarters in Hellín.

In the coming days, the gowns will be delivered to the Murcian Health Service, with the aim of helping health professionals to continue their work in the face of the crisis caused by the COVID19 Coronavirus pandemic in the safest way.

This is one of the various actions that UCAM is developing to help in this health crisis situation.

Previously, it delivered nearly 4,000 pieces of protection, including surgical gowns, leggings and sterile BioClean-D overalls, which were available in its warehouse for student practices.

And at the initiative of its Student Council, many students have made themselves available to the authorities and associations such as Cáritas and Jesús Abandonado to help people with mobility problems in daily tasks, such as shopping for food or medicine.
