The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has carried out an investigation to clarify a series of criminal acts committed in the Murcian hamlet of Cabezo de Torres, which has culminated in the arrest of an experienced criminal as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of robbery with force, robbery with violence and intimidation, theft of motor vehicle use, theft and damages.

As part of the investigation, the Benemérita has recovered a vehicle in El Palmar-Murcia that was stolen in the Murcian hamlet of Cabezo de Torres.

The investigation began at the beginning of last March, when the Civil Guard learned of a robbery by means of a 'pull' committed on an elderly neighbor from the Murcian hamlet of Cabezo de Torres.

As a result of the assault, the woman was injured.

While investigating this criminal act, the Civil Guard detected that another neighbor had been the subject of a robbery.

The events occurred when he was in the ATM of a bank while leaving his vehicle nearby with the ignition keys on.

A person took advantage of that moment of distraction to undertake the flight aboard said tourism.

Citizen collaboration

The Civil Guard was gathering vestiges and testimonies that allowed determining that the person who was, presumably, behind the perpetration of these robberies was a well-known criminal, with a large criminal history and a neighbor of Cabezo de Torres who, since he began his criminal activities It had generated social alarm among the residents of the town.

Despite being in a state of alarm, decreed by the Government within the framework of Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, among whose measures is the restriction of mobility, the suspect continued his criminal activities, also taking advantage of the use of masks by citizens, which favored their criminal activity by being able to hide their faces without attracting attention, thus avoiding being identified.

The Benemérita established an extensive police device, made up of units specialized in Citizen Security, to find the suspect, who was known to be able to maintain family ties in El Palmar-Murcia, although he lived in the town.

Knowing that said individual was ignoring the obligation to remain at home, the civil guards oriented the device at its location, trying to discern the physical characteristics of the suspect among the rest of the citizens who went out to make their purchases with gloves, masks or scarves. , which greatly hindered their search.

One of these police devices developed in recent days paid off when civil guards located him, despite wearing a mask covering part of his face, when he was in a public square in Cabezo Torres.

In that act, he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of robbery with violence, theft, theft of motor vehicle use and damage.

The investigation has culminated with the recovery, in El Palmar-Murcia, and the return to its legitimate owner of the tourism stolen in the hamlet of Cabezo de Torres.

The vehicle also had considerable damage.

The 42-year-old male detainee, Spanish, a resident of Murcia and with an extensive criminal history, has been denounced in application of Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, whose measures include the restriction of mobility, due to disobedience to law enforcement officers.

The detainee, the recovered vehicle and the proceedings investigated have been placed at the disposal of the Murcia Magistrate's Court, which has ordered the arrested person to enter prison.
