Social Rights distributes food to 125 people in social exclusion (02/04/2020)

The Mobile Emergency and Social Care Service (SEMAS) of the Department of Social Rights and Civil Protection volunteers are distributing food directly to 125 people in social exclusion.

Thus, work is being done to deliver to these families different food products such as rice, chickpeas, fried tomato or milk, among others and, if there are babies, diapers and baby food.

This is in addition to the food donation made by the company Nueva Cocina Mediterránea.

Among these 125 people are 17 families from the Accompaniment Team for Social Inclusion, with 37 adults and 46 children, in addition to people living in settlements and homeless people.

The distribution of food has been carried out in different districts such as Era Alta, Cabezo de Torres, Beniaján, Nonduermas, Valladolises, Aljucer, El Palmar, Los Ramos, Santiago and Zaraiche, Puente Tocinos, El Esparragal, Lobosillo and Monteagudo, and neighborhoods such as of Fame and San Antón.

The councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, explained that "we collaborate with different entities that in turn help us reach the most vulnerable families such as the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jesús Abandonado, Cáritas, Cruz Roja, Banco de Food and Civil Protection ".

This action is part of the City Council's Social Contingency Plan that seeks to respond, in the face of this crisis caused by COVID19, to the needs of the most vulnerable families and people in the municipality of Murcia who remain confined to their homes as a result of the declaration of the Alarm status in the country.
