The City Council intensifies the cleaning even more in spaces of special incidence of the coronavirus such as residences, supermarkets or pharmacies (28/03/2020)

The City Council is once again intensifying the disinfection work in those areas of special incidence, which it has been developing since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic.

During this morning, the exterior and interior common areas of the Caser nursing home in Santo Ángel have been cleaned and disinfected again, thanks to the collaboration between the Street Cleaning and Zoonosis services.

Disinfection work has already been carried out in a total of 22 homes for the elderly and disabled, as it is the most vulnerable group.

This action is added to the one that is being carried out from Monday to Sunday with 400 operators of the Municipal Cleaning Service, using 200 vehicles and 10 high-capacity tanks, in addition to four other tanks with a capacity of 9,000 liters of water with disinfectant to clean large areas and three hydro-cleaning equipment with a capacity of 300 liters of water with disinfectant each, to thoroughly clean corners and areas with reduced access.

Thus, these disinfection works are being carried out continuously at bus stops, in residential and disabled residential areas, hospitals, pharmacies, supermarkets, banks, tobacconists and near containers and litter bins are the spaces in which this brigade works with greater intensity.

The operators are using a sodium hypochlorite product - colloquially known as bleach - to clean and disinfect the municipality.

It is a concentration that is characterized by having a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and by being fast bactericidal, without leaving any type of toxic residue.

Specifically, the concentration is active chlorine diluted in water of 1,000 ppm (1,000 parts per million).

To carry out their tasks, disinfection operators are provided with raincoats, masks, gloves and protective glasses.

The waste service works 100% and steps have been taken at the entrance and exit of the operators to minimize confluence.

Vehicles also receive internal and external cleaning procedures that help minimize the risks of contagion.

In the same way, the washing frequency of the containers is also being modified, both externally and internally, and the protection measures for the operators have been increased.
