Nearly 1,000 public employees already have access to telework via remote desk (25/03/2020)

The City Council is committed to labor flexibility as a preventive measure to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, providing its officials with various tools for the performance of their duties during the period of isolation, agreed upon after the declaration of the State of Alarm, in accordance with the Royal Decree 463/2020 of March 14, 2020 of the Ministry of the Presidency.

"Nearly 1,000 employees of the Consistory already have access to telework through the remote desktop, a system that allows them to access the office computer from home, making the same tools and documents that they used available to them," the mayor reported this morning. from Murcia, José Ballesta, who supervised the operation of this system in the Municipal Services building located in Abenarabi.

"Our goal at the moment is to provide workers with all the possible avenues for the performance of their duties, so that they can carry them out exactly as if they were physically at their job," added the councilman from Murcia.

The City Council, through the Department of Pedanías y Barrios, headed by Marco Antonio Fernández, in collaboration with the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, led by José Guillén, has made available to workers various tools for the development of the teleworking, whose manuals are available on the City Council Intranet.

Currently this system has registered 1,000 people, a number that will increase every day.

For their part, between 15% and 30% of municipal employees are physically working at their jobs.

Platforms for conducting meetings via telematics and remote desktops, among other tools

To the system through remote desktop, a technology that allows the user to connect to their own computer from any other computing device, is added the Cisco Webex tool, which allows meetings to be held outside the office.

For this, it is necessary to register, free of charge, on the platform itself https://cart.webex.com/sign-up?locale=es_ES or on the 'Cisco Webex Meeting' application for mobile phones or tablets.

Another of the tools that has been made available to officials is call forwarding, a function with which they can redirect the entries received from their fixed position to the mobile phone or home.

Also, in order to facilitate communication, the possibility of multi-calling is offered, a system that allows you to have several telephone conversations with a maximum of three people at the same time.

The provision of these tools to City Council workers is one of the actions that form part of the Murcia Smart City municipal strategy, with which Murcia is immersed in the development of a smart, modern and sustainable city model, based on the participation, citizen service, urban quality and new technologies at the service of neighbors.
