Urban buses and tram change their frequencies (25/03/2020)

The Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth has modified the frequencies of the municipality's public transport, both for urban buses and for the tram, due to the low demand caused by the period of isolation.

Thus, from today urban buses reduce the service by 25% on working days, so it will adjust the schedules and expeditions according to the lines, in any case ensuring the provision of the minimum service in each of them.

In this way, the frequency of circulars 1, 2, 3 and 4 is set at 17 minutes, that of Circular 5 at 20 minutes, and those of Ray 14, 17 and 80 at 18 minutes.

The rest of the lines do not vary and neither do the frequencies of Saturdays, Sundays and holidays

Regarding the frequencies of the tram, on working days they will go from 15 to 20 minutes.

On Saturdays and Sundays they will also experience a reduction that assumes a frequency every thirty minutes.

During this week the fall in demand for the tram is around 95% while that for urban buses is 92%.

Thus, last Monday 945 people used the tram throughout the day while 817 passengers got on the urban buses.

Councilor Rebeca Pérez explained that "with this reduction in frequencies we are currently guaranteeing effective transportation for those more than 1,700 Murcians who move every day to fill their jobs."

This decision has been agreed with the municipal urban transport operators, taking into account the mode of service provided by both the Murcia Tram concessionaire and the Murcia Transport Joint Venture, the type of vehicles and their dimensions and their capacity.
