The 440 participants of the Youth Language Club continue their classes online (24/03/2020)

The Language Club continues its activities but telematically, by videoconference while the state of alarm lasts.

The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth, suspended the classroom activities of the Language Club but now it is launching a video conference system in which the monitors will carry out their activities with their youth groups electronically .

In this way, the young people will continue learning and conversing in another language and at the same time they will have free time activities while they are at home.

They will be group activities and directed by the monitors appointed by the concessionaire company and will be maintained, in principle, the same days and hours that the Language Club took place.

From the Youth Service, an email has been sent to all young people who participate in the language clubs of the municipality so that they know about this action and most have responded favorably.

Councilor Rebeca Pérez explained that "with this initiative we seek that our young people continue to carry out this series of activities aimed at allowing young people to practice languages as a complement to the academic training they receive. It is a free service that allows young people to practice a foreign language through conversation "

In total there are 22 groups of language clubs that take place in the municipality and where young people can learn English, French and German.

The objectives of this initiative are the following:

-Encourage different people to exchange their language, or other languages they master, in order to practice those who want to improve.

-Create a space where young people can practice a language in the field of conversation.

-Sensitize about the importance of knowing another language besides your mother tongue.

-Encourage to know another language, both for reasons of professional and personal mobility and for representing such learning as a means of intercultural development and approach to others.

-To enable young people with limited financial resources to access other languages.

-Develop and disseminate innovative teaching techniques and good practices for learning a language through non-formal education.

-Offer other tools for learning other languages focusing on leisure activities, leisure and free time.

-To enable the practice and improvement of a language.

-Complement through language practice what has been learned in the Teaching Centers.

-Favoring relationships between young people from other countries.

-To bring Europe closer to young people through the practice of languages.
