UCAM has applied teleworking this morning and has gone online to all face-to-face teaching (16/03/2020)

The Catholic University of Murcia has made all its facilities available to the authorities, both in its Murcia and Cartagena Campus;

This is how it has been transferred through the Department of Universities, in case you need to have your spaces at any time.

Likewise, it has inventoried for this purpose the sanitary material at its disposal.

It has also been specified that it offers its Molecular Biology Laboratory, whose equipment and personnel are trained to carry out COVID19 diagnostic tests.

In addition, this university, based on the principles of Christian humanism, has launched initiatives that allow both its students and workers to carry out volunteer actions for the neediest people.

As regards the research field, the research group BIO-HPC began in January a study with the Austrian company Innophore GmbH to propose possible drugs, having already made the first selection.

Using several supercomputers that are in the top 100 of the most powerful in the world, the group is analyzing thousands of molecules to predict which of them may be the most effective against the identified target proteins of the coronavirus.

TEACHING:

The Catholic University San Antonio de Murcia, as planned in the contingency plan designed by the UCAM COVID 19 Monitoring Commission (created on February 24), has applied telework on Monday and has incorporated all the teaching it taught face-to-face to the online modality, which affects 12,548 students and 800 teachers, of all degrees (official and own) and of all levels, while those who were already fully trained online have continued in it.

Throughout the morning it has been verified that the technological means made available for this have worked with absolute normality (Virtual Campus, Virtual Desk, etc.), while continuing to provide its services through this same route, always from the coordination of its managers and governing bodies, having held an extraordinary Governing Council even this morning.

In addition, the strong commitment that this University has been making for clinical simulation applied to teaching, is currently becoming a very positive tool for acquiring skills.
