The Rectorate of the University of Murcia approves the measures to follow after the cessation of academic activity due to the coronavirus (13/03/2020)

The rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, has issued a resolution establishing the extraordinary measures to be followed after the suspension of academic activity dictated by the regional government, as part of the actions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus ( COVID-19).

Said resolution has been sent first thing in the morning to the entire university community.

With regard to teaching activity, the Rectorate instructs all faculties and centers to prepare a contingency plan in which the terms are established in which the students of each degree, course and subject must continue their distance learning activities academic training during the period of suspension of classroom teaching activity.

This contingency plan should be posted on the web pages of the different schools on March 17.

The resolution also establishes the suspension of all curricular and extracurricular practices of the students of the University of Murcia.

In the same way, all the practices of organizations, companies and institutions that take place at the University of Murcia are suspended.

However, the resolution establishes that, as long as such entities ensure the possibility of carrying out the training activities in a non-face-to-face way, the practices can be continued.

Regarding the research and administration activity of the University of Murcia, the resolution establishes that it will continue to develop on a regular basis, subject to the measures and recommendations established by the academic and health authorities to avoid the risk of contagion.

The Rectorate of the University of Murcia indicates, in addition, that the necessary measures will be arbitrated so that the personnel at the service of the University of Murcia who, in their case, are or will become isolated due to the COVID 19, whether this domiciliary, hospital or other type agreed or arranged by the health authorities, continue to receive, for the time that he remains in said situation, one hundred percent of his remuneration.

The resolution also establishes flexible hours and working hours for staff who are responsible for minors or elderly people affected by the closure of educational and healthcare centers.

The resolution, which foresees the possible reorganization of shifts, teleworking or the modification of selective personnel processes if the circumstances require it, can be found on the website of the University of Murcia dedicated to information on the coronavirus.
