The municipal libraries, nursery schools and study rooms will be closed from tomorrow (12/03/2020)

Actions continue to be established to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the municipality of Murcia.

The Public Health Committee of the municipality of Murcia has met this afternoon for the fourth consecutive day in order to study new measures.

The municipal libraries, nursery schools and study rooms will remain closed from tomorrow and, at least, until March 29, due to the suspension of teaching activity in educational centers.

The weekly markets of Puente Tocinos, El Palmar, Beniaján, Espinardo and Sangonera La Verde are maintained but reducing the number of stalls, prohibiting the sale of clothing and allowing food stalls as long as there are fewer than 50. This measure will reduce the market capacity.

Likewise, the program Networks for free time that offers activities for young people during the weekends is canceled and a communication has been sent to the 500 users of the language clubs for young people, informing them of the suspension of these activities until April 20.

Another of the agreed measures is the suppression of the guided tourist visits organized by the City Council and the guided visits to the Contraparada.

The municipal pavilions and swimming pools are closed and, from the Department of Sports and Health, the administrative concessions of La Flota, Inacua, Verdolay, Cabezo de Torres and JC1 have been recommended to close their facilities.

The more than 150 companies that operate in the center and that supply to retailers of supply squares, shops, authorized markets, restaurants and supermarkets throughout the region and its area of ​​influence, ensure that the supply is not at risk and that its activity normally in the coming weeks.

Each one of these companies has taken the indicated preventive measures following the general recommendations given by the Ministry of Health, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and the Municipal Health Services of the Murcia City Council for the containment of the coronavirus.
