The Councilor for Employment, Economic Promotion and Tourism, Pedro García Rex, today held an emergency meeting with representatives of the tourism sector to analyze the evolution of the coronavirus crisis in the municipality of Murcia and plan a series of actions and measures in collaboration with the City of Murcia.

The head of Tourism has pointed out that "the objective of this meeting is to assess the situation of tourism and provide realistic and effective actions and measures in the short, medium and long term, in a coordinated manner, listening to their proposals and addressing joint strategies" .

As it is happening in the whole of the Spanish territory, the tourist representatives have informed the responsible councilor about the increase in cancellations in Murcia hotels, suspension of events and congresses and decrease of reservations and influx in restaurants of the municipality.

In this sense, the Councilor for Tourism has transmitted to the tourism agents a message of tranquility.

"From the City Council we will plan a strategy that facilitates the recovery of the sector and reduces the negative impact of the coronavirus on tourism in Murcia."
