Torreagüera will enjoy a renovated recreation and recreation space of 20,000 m2 in the Montegrande garden (11/03/2020)

Local artists will give life to a large urban mural with typical Torreagüera motifs, which will decorate the center of the park.

The City Council will also execute the renovation of the Plaza Antonete Gálvez, within the Extraordinary Investment Plan in Pedanías, endowed with 14 million euros.

In addition, work is also being done on the rehabilitation of a space for the little ones with the incorporation of new play elements and street furniture.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, visited this morning the works of the Montegrande Garden, in Torreagüera, a space of more than 20,000m2, which can be enjoyed more of 9,000 residents of the district, thanks to an investment of 125,000 euros.

The performance, which will be completed in a month, includes the renovation of the children's space, more shade spaces, the planting of new species, the enhancement of the yucas and other existing specimens, and the solution of drag problems.

"Soon, the neighbors of Torreagüera will be able to enjoy a renewed space where they will enjoy the biodiversity of the area and nature, the perfect environment for recreation and recreation," said José Ballesta.

In addition, other elements such as urban furniture in the central square with anti-graffiti benches, the padding layer, the curbs and the irrigation system have been renovated.

Also noteworthy is the addition of climbing plants in the pergolas to improve shade, children's games such as climbing ropes and slides, the new canine recreation area or the sports area with elements for exercise.

Another novelty will be the development of a large urban mural with typical Torreagüera motifs and made by local artists, who will decorate the center of the park.

The City of Murcia will also execute the renovation of the Plaza Antonete Gálvez in Torreagüera, within the Extraordinary Investment Plan in Pedanías, endowed with 14 million euros.

In addition, it highlights the remodeling of a recreation area, located on the main street, where the existing gerontogimnasia elements will be relocated and where the pavement renovation and rubber placement is being carried out.

Likewise, work is being carried out on the rehabilitation of a very close space for children's enjoyment with more play elements, street furniture, in addition to the renovation of the floor and the installation of a perimeter security structure.

Biodiversity and environmental well-being in Montegrande

The park will increase its trees with the planting of new specimens and shrub species, which will provide an increase in biodivesity in the area, as well as natural shade spaces.

Among the new species include bougainvillea, carex comans, centranthus album and phillyrea angustifolia.

The new Torreagüera park not only aims to improve the well-being of citizens by offering a renewed meeting and recreation space for everyone;

In addition, it is a project that bets on the environmental benefit since it has improved its irrigation system and has incorporated upholstered plant species to make more efficient and responsible use of a resource as precious and scarce as water.

On the other hand, the installation of nests / drinking fountains / hotels for insects, which will improve pollination, is another guarantee of improvement for the environment.

400,000 m2 of green areas

On the other hand, the City Council currently has 47 works underway (32 in districts), which means an investment of almost five million euros (4,862,224 euros) and the remodeling of 400,010 square meters of green areas.

These works benefit more than 150,000 people, who live in the area of ​​influence of these parks.

"Improving the quality of life of the residents of Murcia and its districts is a priority for the City of Murcia," said the councilor during his visit to Torreagüera.

47 works in progress, 32 in districts

The City of Murcia has a total of 47 works underway, of which 32 in districts and 15 in neighborhoods.

Specifically, among the actions are the works of the integral remodeling of the most important gardens in the districts of Sangonera La Verde, Cabezo de Torres, Aljucer, Guadalupe, Puente Tocinos, Torreagüera, Patiño and El Palmar.

Likewise, the town hall also works on the improvement of other emblematic gardens of the city of Murcia, such as Fama (Los Perros Park), Silk, Rocío, Salitre, Lieutenant Flomesta, Fofó Park and Avenida de la Fama .

Another of the projects is the remodeling of nine large fountains and lakes, such as the four ponds, La Seda, El Salitre, Los Patos, in San Ginés, and the Fofó Park, and five fountains, the Circular Square, the Tower House del Reloj (Puente Tocinos), José Cánovas Ortiz garden (Beniaján), Juana Jugán avenue (Tocinos bridge) and Liberty avenue (Guadalupe).

The remodeling of medium and roundabouts of the municipality is another of the actions that are being carried out.

To name a few, those located in the variant of Los Dolores, Kingdom of Murcia, May Day, Pintor Sobejano, Almela Costa and Miguel Induráin are under construction.

To these works it is necessary to add the actions that are being carried out in the parks and gardens of the districts, belonging to the Plan of Pedanías and Diputaciones and Peripheral and / or Depressed Neighborhoods that the City Council carries out, next to the Autonomous Community.

The locations in which it is acting are: Alquerías, Baños y Mendigo, La Ñora, El Palmeral Garden, Llano de Brujas, Zeneta, Rincón de Seca, San Pío X, Cabezo de Torres, San José de la Vega, Puente Tocinos , Algezares, El Palmar and Corvera.

We must add the work in other areas, such as the construction of a new 'Playground' of Patiño, the new garden of the Verada del Chocolate, which expands the infrastructure of the greenway, in Los Ramos, and the integral remodeling of the square Antonete Gálvez in Torreagüera, belonging to the Extraordinary Investment Plan in Pedanías.

State of the works

Of the 47 works that are underway, 8 have recently been completed and a total of 39 are in execution, whose deadlines range between 4 and 6 months.

It is planned that all the works are completed for this summer.

In this way, a total of 8 works have recently been completed: Silk Lake, Salitre Lake, San Ginés Lake, Clock Fountain, Beniaján Fountain, First of May Avenue, Almela Costa Avenue, Vereda del Chocolate in Los Ramos .

All these investments come from different sources of financing, from European funds, funds from CARM and own funds.
