Murcia shows in Madrid its progress in the development of the DUSI strategy for its city project (08/03/2020)

The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, has met with the Deputy Director General of Urban Development of the Ministry of Finance, Marco Antonio Romero, to discuss, among other issues, the advanced level of implementation of the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy Integrated (DUSI) of the City of Murcia.

In this sense, the session is among the four municipalities in Spain with a higher level of strategy execution.

That is why, in the words of Mercedes Bernabé, “having developed this plan so effectively and within the period established by the Ministry of Finance, has allowed us to be ahead of other municipalities and preparing and working for the new period of financial programming of the European Union 2021-2027, for which we will try once again to obtain new financing, since Murcia has a city project that allows us to place ourselves in a privileged position â€.

The investment received through the DUSI Strategy (Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development) Murcia IT, Innovation + Tradition, amounts to a global budget of 17,588,716.25 euros.

With this, the territorial model included in the Murcia 2020 Strategy is financed, which is the result of the work tables of the Social Council of the City of the previous mandate.

The DUSI Strategy includes investment projects in different strategic lines, such as sustainable mobility, with the implementation of bike lanes in the municipality, and the pedestrianization works of Alfonso X El Sabio.

“The line of valorization of urban heritage elements has also been of vital importance, with projects such as the expansion of the Interpretation Center of the Archaeological Ensemble of the Wall of Santa Eulalia, the execution of the Tourist Itinerary of the Wall of Murcia and its Doors, the rehabilitation and putting into use of phase I of the old provincial prison or the remodeling of the Palm Grove of Peace, as well as the rehabilitation of module 1 and 2 of the Artillery Barracks, â€recalls Mercedes Bernabé.

The DUSI Strategy also includes the actions that are being carried out with the Murcia Río project in its urban section, with the adaptation of the right side of the river for recreational use and the revegetation of the left side or the River Segura River Walk.

Other interventions aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods are those that are being carried out in El Carmen and La Paz within the framework of the Urban DNA project.

These projects are 80% funded by the European Regional Development Fund for the 2014-2020 period.
