Mixtura returns this weekend with Argentina and the women as protagonists (06/03/2020)

Murcia celebrates a new edition of Mixtura with Argentina as a guest country and with an eye on the celebration of Women's Day.

Councilors Jesús Pacheco and Pilar Torres have presented this morning the programming at the headquarters of Murcia Spanish Capital of the Gastronomy of the Romea Theater.

The international market returns this Saturday and Sunday to the González Moreno Sculptor Walk, next to the Danger Bridge, where you can enjoy the cuisine of 11 countries and more than 50 craft stalls.

The opening hours of Saturday will be extended from 10:30 a.m. to midnight while on Sunday it can be visited from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During both days you will be able to know the gastronomy of Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, United States, Nicaragua, Peru, Morocco, Mexico and Ethiopia.

In addition, the artisans will carry out bracelet workshops, storytelling and games.

International folklore will also have its space in Mixtura on Saturday, from 12 to 15 hours and from 18 to 21 hours, and Sunday from 12 to 15 hours.

Groups of capoeira and countries such as Ecuador, Paraguay, Ukraine, Azerbaijan or Venezuela, among others, will perform.

Framed in Mixtura and on the occasion of Women's Day, the IV Meeting of Women of the World in Murcia will be held 'Generation equality: breaking stereotypes' with the main objective of generating meeting spaces between foreign and indigenous women through the associative movement, promoting the exchange of vital experiences, socio-community participation, the empowerment of women and girls and the achievement of gender equality.

This meeting will take place tomorrow Saturday at the Museum of Science and Water at 10.30 am

With a framework presentation and round table of experiences, the transition from childhood to the adult life of women from different parts of the world will be addressed, where it is one of the most extreme forms in terms of the violation of human rights.

At the end of that IV Meeting of Women of the World in Murcia, starting at 1 pm, at the Moreno Moreno Sculptor Walk, folklore performances and representative samples of typical costumes will take place.

The associations that are going to participate are the following: Federation of African Associations of Murcia, FAAM;

Association of Women for Africa AMAFRICA;

Asociación Hispanoecuatoriana, RUMIĂ‘AHUI;

ASEDI and A21 Women for Development Association;

Ukrainian Association, UCRAMUR;

United Women of Senegal KASOFOR;

Bolivian Roots and Colombian Association and the Arab Flower Association.

This social project framed in the Urban DNA promotes intercultural relations and knowledge of other cultures, also supposing a boost for the Carmen neighborhood, its shops and its hospitality premises.

During this 2020, six other editions of Mixtura will be celebrated, which are the following:

- April (4 and 5): Venezuela

- May (2 and 3): Peru

- June (6 and 7): Ecuador

- September (5 and 6): Morocco

- October (3 and 4): Colombia

- November (7 and 8): Bolivia
