Murcia and Santander establish synergies for the development of the smart city model (05/03/2020)

The Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, visits the Santander Smart City Demonstration Center.

José Guillén: "Both cities are immersed in a process of common transformation, based on participation, citizen care, open government, sustainable mobility and urban quality, in which the citizen is at the center of our action ".

The Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, today visited the Santander Smart City Demonstration Center, launched by the Cantabrian city and Telefónica to show citizens and companies in the sector the technologies developed for smart cities.

Located in RivaHerrera Palace, the center has demonstration areas, multimedia spaces for citizens to know about the project and a 'Think Tank', specially designed for entrepreneurs and local companies, researchers and university developers to share ideas and participate in initiatives that allow to boost the ecosystem of local innovation.

Likewise, the experiential zone is destined to show the projects related to different services such as Urban Mobility, Energy, Environment, Tourism and Economy.

Thus, citizens can know the details of the implementation of the Smart City Platform in Santander and the transformation of municipal services that is being carried out.

In this way, Councilman José Guillén, together with the team responsible for MiMurcia, has held an institutional meeting with the mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, to show him the latest advances in the Smart City Strategic Plan of the City of Murcia and establish synergies about the implementation of this smart city model.

“Murcia and Santander are cities immersed in a process of common transformation, based on participation, citizen care, open government, sustainable mobility and urban quality in which the citizen is at the center of our action,†José Guillén said, who added that "we put technology at the service of people and their daily needs to improve their quality of life and facilitate their relationship with the municipal administration."

Murcia will have a Single Monitoring Center (CEUS), located in the Abenarabi building, which will be the headquarters of the smart city and will have a control room and crisis room, from which you can view the municipality as a whole in emergency situations.
