The Civil Guard dismantles a dangerous criminal group dedicated to the cultivation and trafficking of drugs, in Llano de Brujas (05/03/2020)

In one of the registered homes a bunker has been dismantled, where the drug was distributed, and in another building, an indoor plantation of cannabis sativa

More than 250 marijuana plants, several high purity cocaine rocks, bagged marijuana buds and the necessary tools for cultivation and dosing, a simulated long weapon and cash have been seized.

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed the operation 'WITCHPLACE', an investigation framed in the services of prevention and prosecution of drug trafficking, which has resulted in the dismantling of a criminal organization composed of six people, allegedly dedicated to the cultivation of cannabis sativa plants that were produced in a hidden greenhouse in a house and distributed in a sophisticated bunker, both established in two occupied houses, located in the Murcian district of Llano de Brujas.

In the two records carried out simultaneously, more than 250 marijuana plants, several high purity cocaine rocks, bagged marijuana buds and the necessary tools for cultivation and dosing, a simulated long weapon and cash have been seized.

The investigation began in December of last year, when the Civil Guard found an important transfer of people, mainly drug addicts, in the vicinity of two illegally occupied homes, located in the Murcian district of Llano de Brujas.

La Benemérita established numerous surveillance operations, which made it possible to know that one of these buildings, which remained active twenty-four hours a day, was intended for retail distribution of different types of narcotic substances.

The consequences on citizen security in the nearby populations became evident, when different quarrels occurred in the area, as well as small crimes allegedly committed by consumers of toxic substances that did not have enough cash to buy their doses.

The Civil Guard established a first line of investigation that paid off with the identification of one of the leaders who organized the different criminal tasks that, apparently, began with the illegal occupation of the two houses where they established the intensive marijuana greenhouses and the point of sale of retail drug.

The agents were identifying the group of people linked to this first suspect, most of them with a bulky criminal record, whose extensive experience made them maintain strong security measures and who, in addition, were known to not hesitate to use violence against the Security Forces and Bodies.

The indications obtained by the investigators were brought to the attention of the holder of the Court of Instruction number 8 of Murcia who granted the corresponding entry and registration orders in the monitored homes.

Recently, in a large police device, the Civil Guard carried out the simultaneous entry and registration in the two buildings, located in the Murcian district of Llano de Brujas, where the six members of the criminal group under investigation were arrested.

These are four men and two women, of Spanish nationality, aged between 19 and 40, who are attributed the alleged authorship of the crimes of cultivation, processing and trafficking of drugs and belonging to a criminal organization .

The examination of the properties allowed to confirm the suspicions of the investigators when verifying how the arrested had established a complex formed by two houses, one of them destined to the 'indoor' cultivation of marijuana, where more than 250 sativa cannabis plants were seized, all the necessary equipment for its cultivation and dosage, a long simulated firearm and cash.

This house also had several double funds to hide the drug and was used as accommodation by some of the members of the criminal group.

A bunker to give security to drug sales

The second property was used to carry out the sale of narcotic substances, for this, they had made a series of reforms until it became an extremely safe place, transforming it into a bunker specially designed for drug trafficking, to which its' customers 'could access discreetly and securely.

The walls of the cabin had been reinforced with reinforced concrete more than 40 cm thick and its access was limited to a single entrance, through an armored door of about 12 cm of solid metal, anchored with six pieces to the concrete, which had with a peephole that served a double function, that of monitoring the exteriors of the house and with enough breadth to make drug passes without having to open it.

The enclosure had a video surveillance system with micro cameras distributed around the facade, perfectly camouflaged, to warn the police presence and get rid of the drug if necessary, as well as to detect the incursion of possible rival gangs, dedicated to the 'overturning' 'of drugs.

During the entry and search of the bunker, while the agents opened the armored door, they heard the uninterrupted noise of a cistern that evacuated a large amount of water.

A pipe specially installed to get rid of the drug

Once inside, the researchers located a sophisticated drainage system specially designed to get rid of the drug, which consisted of two water tanks that, operated by means of a lever, poured water into a pipe that crossed the bunker until it connected to the network of the public sewer.

The canine guide specialist in drug detection, present during the search, alerted the signal of his dog that, insistently, marked the opening of the pipe where the suspects, according to his nose, had thrown the drug.

Technicians from the company Aguas de Murcia collaborated with the Benemérita, thanks to which and by introducing a camera probe, legal tender, cocaine, marijuana and even a precision scale were located, all of which had been trapped in The inside of the pipe.

The Civil Guard lifted the thick layer of concrete and accessed the place where the remains of money and narcotic substances had been observed, until extracting several rocks of pure cocaine still undissolved, a plastic bag with cocaine dissolved in water, several bags full of buds of marijuana, cash and a small scale.

The operation 'WITCHPLACE' has culminated in the dismantling of a dangerous criminal group, formed by six people who had established in two homes of the Murcian district of Llano de Brujas, a point of cultivation, production and sale of retail drug, which have arrested as alleged authors of the crimes of cultivation, processing and trafficking of drugs and belonging to a criminal organization.

In the two records carried out simultaneously, 250 marijuana plants, several high purity cocaine rocks, bagged marijuana buds and the necessary tools for their cultivation and dosage, a simulated long weapon and cash have been seized.

The proceedings and detainees were made available to the Court of Murcia.
