Tribute to Alfredo Montoya, a law professor who began his career at the University of Murcia half a century ago (04/03/2020)

The University of Murcia, through the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Labor Sciences and the Department of Labor and Social Security Law, pays tribute tomorrow to Alfredo Montoya Melgar, on the occasion of his golden wedding in the chair

Montoya was Professor of Labor Law of the Murcia center between 1969 and 1989, later moving to the Complutense University of Madrid.

The act will begin at 7 pm, in the degree room of the Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia, and will feature the master lesson "The dignity of work", by the honoree.

Montoya Melgar is the author of more than 450 publications, including 'Labor Law', an essential manual for more than 40 years for all those who would like to be trained in this subject at any Spanish university, which was designed precisely during his period as a professor from the University of Murcia.

During the two decades that he worked as a professor at the UMU, numerous promotions of students of Law, Social Graduate and Labor Relations received his teachings;

He carried out extensive research work embodied in works that have become fundamental for the study of labor ordering;

founded and directed the Social School, origin of the current Faculty of Labor Sciences;

He was Dean of the Faculty of Law and Director of the Department of Labor Law, forming a brilliant and prestigious group of workers.

All his merits were recognized with the honorary Doctorate granted by the University of Murcia in 2008. Since 2017 he is a Judge of the Constitutional Court.
