The ODSesiones project of the University of Murcia (UMU), framed in the project to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), organizes from March 4 to 27 a dozen activities around SDG 9 'Industry, innovation and infrastructure ', in the faculties of Computer Science and Mathematics.
The program starts this Wednesday, March 4, starting at 7 pm in the Chamber of the Faculty of Letters (Campus of La Merced), in an act that will feature the interventions of the rector of the UMU, José Luján;
the dean of the Faculty of Informatics, Antonio Flores;
the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Pascual Lucas;
and the coordinator of Social Responsibility of the UMU, Inés López.
Subsequently, from 19.30 to 21 hours, the novel 'Sin ti', the second work of Murcia writer Antonio Jesús Martínez, will be presented.
Graduated in Spanish Language and Literature at UMU, Martínez has published his work through the online platform Wattpad.
This platform is a literary creation community that unites more than 80 million readers and writers in the world and allows users to write, read and comment on the texts of others.
Youth literature
In the words of the author, "I began to write my first novel, 'Por ti', a few months after my father's death, and sitting on the sofa at home I downloaded this application where you could read books for free."
"I also discovered that readers could also write on this platform and share stories," he adds.
"The first chapter I wrote with the mobile. Users began to read it and the book began to penetrate thousands of Wattpad users. Today, my first book already has 50,000 readings," he reveals.
His second book 'Sin ti', is now available in this application and has just been published in print by the Andalusian publisher Letrame.
'Sin ti' is the second novel in a tetralogy that deals with the search for love in adolescence and family values, with fundamental issues such as violence or suicide.
After 'Por ti', published in 2019, the launch of his second novel 'Sin ti' is now, followed by the titles 'Next to you' and 'En ti'.
Bioclimatic buildings
ODSessions activities will continue on March 5 from 12 to 13 hours in the auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics, through the presentation 'Control of user comfort in bioclimatic buildings'.
In it, the professor of the IT department of the University of Almeria, José Domingo Álvarez, will explain how to develop control algorithms to design passive and active energy saving measures.
Subsequently, this same auditorium will host from 13 to 13.30 hours the talk 'Disruptive innovation: a new hope', by the president of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs (AJE) of the Region of Murcia and CEO of the company Konery, Ginés Angel Garcia
Guided visit to the FREMM
On March 11, from 16.30 to 18 hours, a visit will be made to the headquarters of the Regional Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs of Murcia (FREMM), in which attendees will be able to know their facilities, lines of work and their commitment to innovation.
The program will continue on March 12, from 12 to 13 hours in the auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics, with the presentation 'Mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of the thermal behavior of the courtyards for application to the design of buildings', by by Professor Enrique Fernández, from the University of Seville.
On Friday, March 13, in the auditorium of the Faculty of Informatics from 12 to 13 hours, it will be the turn of the talk 'Innovation policies in the Region of Murcia' by the Director General of Business Innovation and Defense of the Autonomous and the SME of the Regional Government, Mª JoséRos.
That same day, from 12.30 to 14 hours, the Faculty of Informatics hosts the talk 'The Digital Transformation of Industry - Industry 4.0'.
On March 18, the auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics, from 17.30 to 18.30 hours, will host the gymkhana 'The mystery of the faculty that spoke to machines', created by videogame designer North.
Business Innovation
One of the highlights of this month of activities will be on March 23, from 10 to 12 hours in the auditorium of the CROEM, which will host the meeting 'Business innovation and industry 4.0', where the state of Business innovation in the Region.
At this table, moderated by the Vice Chancellor of Digital Strategy of the UMU, Pedro Miguel Ruiz, the director of INFO, Diego Rodríguez-Linares;
the president of TIMUR / SYSCOMED, ​​Juan Celdrán;
the head of strategy and corporate communication of Zeus, Amparo García;
and the founder and director of MetaEnlace, Rosario Ibáñez.
On Thursday, March 26 from 12.10 to 14 hours, the activity 'Mathematics for industry and innovation' will be held in the auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics.
Finally, on May 27 will be held in the auditorium of the Faculty of Information Technology, from 10 to 12, the activity 'Industry 4.0 in collaboration with INTICO', with examples on how to apply the latest technology in our day to day .
That same day, from 12 to 14 hours in the degree room of the Faculty of Informatics, the round table 'Automation of work: Implications' will take place, where representatives of the FREMM participate, as well as the companies Wepall and CFZ-Cobots .
