FAMDIF reaches more than 4,000 Murcia schoolchildren with its awareness campaign on disability (03/03/2020)

Two Murcia centers, CEIP Narciso Yepes and CEIP San Andrés, have been awarded the recognition of the commitment |

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the president of FAMDIF, Carmen Gil, the councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Francisca Pérez, and the Minister of Education and Culture, Esperanza Moreno, attended this morning the closing ceremony of the School Awareness Campaign 19/20 carried out by FAMDIF / COCEMFE (Federation of Murcian Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities).

The campaign began in October of last year at the CEIP La Flota de Murcia, with the objective of raising awareness among the educational community about the day-to-day life of people with disabilities.

Thus, during all these months lectures and workshops have been given in educational centers of different municipalities of the Region of Murcia, to reach 4,000 students.

“Solidarity and equality are values ​​that are part of the DNA of Murcia, a good example of this is shown by associations in the Region, such as those that are part of FAMDIF,” said José Ballesta, during his speech at the Teatro Circo .

During the event, the work and social commitment of different centers in the Region were recognized with the delivery of different awards: recognition of the commitment for CEIP Narciso Yepes and CEIP San Andrés de Murcia;

Drawing prizes for CEIP Méndez Nuńez de Yecla, CEIP Virgen del Oro de Abarán and CEIP Miguel Hernández de Jumilla;

and the Lipdub award for the CEIP New Schools of El Palmar.

The final climax of the act came with the representation of the play 'Galaxy Party 2020', by Paco Abellán, by the youth of the Day Center 'Juan Cerezo'.

This endearing story, which invites reflection, takes place at a party attended by all the planets except Earth, which is absent for being sick.

115 talks in 64 centers

Through this campaign, FAMDIF is in charge of offering talks, workshops and presentations, adapted to the age of the students, about disability, disease prevention, accidents and rights.

In this way, they raise awareness and work to ensure the inclusion of the different groups they represent.

To date, without counting the figures of the campaign of this course, the technicians who give the talks, both of the Federation and the associations that compose it, have visited almost 2,000 occasions colleges, institutes and universities of municipalities throughout the Region.

During the months of October to January, 50 volunteers from the 17 FAMDIF member associations have given 115 lectures in 64 centers throughout the Region of Murcia with the aim that students in 5th and 6th grade learn about the reality of disabled people.

Thus, it has reached 4,049 schoolchildren who have participated making drawings related to the integration of disabled people and forming a Lip Dub (a participatory music video) to support physical and organic disabilities.

Murcia City Council hand in hand with FAMDIF

This year, the City of Murcia renewed a collaboration agreement with FAMDIF / COCEMFE-MURCIA for the realization of training practices and labor insertion of people with disabilities users of the programs and training actions managed by this institution.

In this way, the City Council continues to promote the appropriate mechanisms to facilitate the realization of professional practices in centers and municipal services of workers with recognized disabilities greater than 33%, previously selected by FAMDIF / COCEMFE-MURCIA, and that meet the requirements for completion of a contract for training.

Also present at the ceremony were the general director of Persons with Disabilities of IMAS, Concepción Ruiz, the general director of Social Services and Third Sector, José López, and the second secretary of the Regional Assembly Board, Emilio Ivars.

Users of the 'Tocaos del Ala' Day Center of Cieza, of the FAMDIF Professional Training Programs and members of the member associations also attended the event.
