In the afternoon, "Action against labor exploitation", Plaza de la Fuensanta, and wings 20h, "Closing Strike", in the Plaza de la Merced.

The Feminist Movement of Murcia calls for a Care and Costs Strike.

We would like, logically, that a labor and student strike be called next Sunday, March 8, and that it be extended until Monday (because it is workable) to give greater visibility to our demands.

Unfortunately, under current legislation, our social movement does not have the legal capacity to call a strike and, in this sense, we find it unfortunate and shameful that agents that do have the capacity to call it have not done so, mainly the majority unions of CCOO and UGT.

Only the CGT has considered our demand and has put in place the legal mechanisms to call that strike.

The CARM must give authorization.

In this sense, the strike (or one-day demonstrations and specific concentrations) could be seen as a useful tool for visibility, protest and denunciation, although we believe it is insufficient as part of the solution to a political project as complex and demanding as the of feminisms.

In addition, in a scenario of precariousness and crisis like the one we are in, many people cannot afford to join the strike (the simple fact of saying so already, of considering that going on a strike is a luxury, a privilege within the reach of a few we would have to give ourselves what to think) and many jobs that women traditionally and mostly perform (such as care, maternal work, domestic work are not even paid or have yet to achieve, despite the many and so many claims, the status or recognition of being seen as jobs.In the case of prostitution it is paid but the sex workers continue in their struggle for the achievement of their labor rights. We must say that the assembly of the Feminist Movement of Murcia is one of the few at the state level, which is openly positioned Pro-rights on the issue of prostitution (neither abolitionist nor regulatory).

In case this was not already discouraging enough, we find ourselves throughout the Spanish State that feminism is overwhelmingly white and middle class.

This was perfectly clear with the case of Moroccan strawberry workers in Huelva, we have a lot of self-criticism to do and much to work with anti-racist and decolonial partners.

Feminisms, both for parties and for unions and institutional bodies (and many media), only get some visibility and attention in cases of femicide or violence resulting from the relationships of partners or ex-partners, systematically neglecting and ignoring (for lack of feminist training and transversal gaze) all other violence that crosses us.

The perspective from which these unique cases of visibility of sexist violence are approached is also victimist, protectionist and infantilizing and only contribute to reinforcing the subordinate role of women and justifying policies aimed only at protecting the (still present in the imaginary) that Without any doubt consider weak sex.

Positions and perspectives that we consider follow patriarchal logic and that serve to justify the role of the State (in its different variables) and that, ultimately, are not serving at all to eradicate violence against women and LGTBIQ + people, with that limited vision , reductionist and neglect on the part of the institutions.
