The IBAFF celebrates its 11th edition from February 28 to March 7 (26/02/2020)

As the main novelty, this year the International Film Festival of Murcia IBAFF will reward the loyalty of the public with raffles of free leisure plans |

Murcia will celebrate the eleventh edition of the International Film Festival from February 28 to March 7, with the Regional Film Library as the main venue.

The Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, has indicated that "the programming of the Murcia International Film Festival for this year seeks again the exploration of the poetic. The works selected for the Official Section of the IBAFF XI are characterized by its artistic quality, and for being pieces that otherwise could not be seen in the city of Murcia. "

The IBAFF XI revolves around the concept of travel, freedom and creation.

The Official Feature Film Section is made up of 18 titles, documentaries and fictions, which transgress the academic gender codes and articulate a large number of topics.

As for the selected short films, two joint programs have been established with a total of 14 films offering several national and European premieres among the selected films.

For this eleventh edition, almost 400 films were registered, 66% of short films and 34% of feature films, both fiction and documentary.

In 2020 the registered works came from places as diverse as Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Kosovo, Great Britain, Netherlands, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Algeria, Chad, Sudan, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Israel, Qatar, Iran, Uzbekistan, China, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Panama, Peru, Mexico, Cuba and the United States, totaling 41 different countries.

The Official Jury - composed of experts related to the industry, the media, culture and the arts - will deliver two prizes from among the films in competition in the Official Section: Best Feature Film, endowed with € 8,000, and Best Short Film, with € 2,000.

Among the same films, an Audience Award will be selected for both categories.

A prize resulting from the averaged decision (50%) between the vote of the Popular Jury and the vote of the audience attending the festival (50%).

The IBAFF Young Prize -voted by students of institutes of the Region- will also be awarded;

the Solidarity Screen Prize - to make visible a social work with which the festival identifies and commits;

the Arrebato Prize - which recognizes the trajectory, evolution and firm interest in discovering new cinematographic experiences to the public;

and the Honorary Prize that will fall to Peter Greenaway, one of the purest and least conventional creators of contemporary cinema.

Álvaro Morte, one of the greatest assets of current Spanish television, will be the first Arrebato Prize of the IBAFF XI.

The Cadiz actor has become an international star thanks to his interpretation of 'The Professor', the brain behind the plot that tells 'The paper house', and series like 'The Embarcadero', production of Movistar + whose last season is He projected integrates in the Rex Cinema within the Information Section of the IBAFF XI.

The Murcia IBAFF Film Festival continues to focus on bringing culture to all types of groups.

Along these lines, this eleventh edition has brought the cinema closer to four groups of spectators who cannot access it as they wish.

One formed by inmates of the Campos del Río II Penitentiary Center - by the hand of the NGO Solidarios para el Desarrollo;

people with cerebral palsy and related diseases -thanks to Astrapace-;

part of the patients of the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Clinical Hospital - within the Hospital Classrooms program of the Hospital Classrooms Platform of Murcia-;

and, as a novelty, people helped by the Abandoned Jesus Foundation of Murcia.

There is also great interest in highlighting women's work for and for the cinema.

As shown, the three projections that will be held on Monday, March 2 on a day expressly dedicated to them, although its presence is continuous throughout the festival.

In addition, they have organized the Seminar of Initiation to the Critic of Cinema (2-6 March);

Introduction to the Creation of Television Fiction Seminar (March 6 and 7);

Composing room.

Hit the key in music for cinema (March 2-5);

and the Experimental Cinema children's workshops for boys and girls.

The mass response of the Murcian public has resulted in waiting lists for all courses whose places were sold out in record time.

In this edition the IBAFF will continue to offer spaces for debate.

After the changes produced in the audiovisual of Murcia, the festival proposes a new meeting between different professionals, entities and associations of the sector, to join forces in the search for a common path and work with the same objective.

It will be at the Mesa of the Audiovisual Sector of the Region of Murcia.

Likewise and as it has been a tradition, the Murcia International Film Festival includes in its programming a film session dedicated to local talent.

Thus, as part of the Information Section of the #IBAFFXI, the 10 finalist audiovisual pieces of the CreaMurcia 2019 Short and Documentary Program will be screened.

This year the International Film Festival of Murcia IBAFF will reward the loyalty of the public #ibaffer with free entertainment plans raffles.

For this, a passport has been devised in which the public can register each of the views of the films of the Official Section of this eleventh edition.

After each session the passport will be sealed.

When a minimum of 5 stamps are obtained, the card can be filled in with personal data and inserted into an urn arranged for the occasion.

The rewards to which the participants will opt will be merchandise of the festival, tickets for concerts and shows of the Circus Theater and Romea Theater ...
