'The Huerta de los 1.001 flavors' stars in the exclusive stamp created by Correos for Murcia Gastronomic Capital (26/02/2020)

José Ballesta: "La Huerta Murcia fills this seal with color and vitality, of which 160,000 units have been issued in the National Coin and Doorbell Factory".

The Romea Head Office hosted the postmark of honor, with the presence of the director of Post Office Philately, Modesto Fraguas.

Tomatoes, lemons, lettuce, eggplant and carrots are the protagonists of this seal, whose main motive is a spoon and a fork that are intertwined forming a heart.

The fruits and vegetables of the Murcian Huerta, as well as a fork and a spoon that are intertwined forming a heart, a picture that is completed with the motto 'La Huerta de los 1.001 flavors'.

This is the seal created by Correos in tribute to Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2020, which has been presented this morning by the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, María Cristina Sánchez, the councilor of Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, the Councilor for Employment, Economic Promotion and Tourism, Pedro García, the director of Post Office Philately, Modesto Fraguas, and the president of the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy, Mariano Palacín.

"La Huerta Murcia full of color and vitality this seal, of which 160,000 units have been issued in the National Factory of Currency and Bell," said José Ballesta during the event, held at the Central Office of Murcia Gastronomic Capital, on the ground floor from the Romea Theater, who added that “the motto 'La Huerta de los 1.001 flavors' completes this design, which will travel as a small showcase of our gastronomyâ€.

In addition, the postmark was honored postmarked.

This stamp, which is in circulation since February 4 and is valid for sending ordinary mail of letters and postcards of 20 to 50 grams on the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, can be purchased at the Post Offices for 75 cents.

This afternoon, Asian contest at street level

The presentation of this stamp is one of the activities that are part of the programming of Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2020, among which also highlights the Asian competition that will be held this afternoon at street level, in the Plaza Julián Romea, at 6 pm

During the event, the participants will show how this type of coffee is made, characteristic of the Campo del Cartagena Region, with an expert jury that will evaluate the elaborations of the participating baristas.

"This capitality is an opportunity to project nationally and internationally the brand 'Region of Murcia', working together the 45 municipalities to value our elaborations, Denominations of Origin, chefs and restaurants, raw materials and brands of our land," added the alderman

PDO Yecla tasting

Also, this afternoon the Hall of Mirrors of the Romea Theater will host a vertical tasting - when the wines that are tasted are the same but from different harvests -, destined for professionals of the hospitality sector, of Summun wine, of Borah Barahonda.

In total, PDO Yecla will bring three vertical wine tastings to the Hall of Mirrors - the following will be March 25 and April 29.
