Andrés Guerrero: "We cannot allow the history of Murcia to be lost among rubble" (22/02/2020)

Also, denounces that the City of Murcia is not protecting the historical heritage of the city or listening to the demands of neighbors or associations

The General Plan of Urban Planning of Murcia (PGOU) is the main vehicle for the knowledge and preservation of the historical heritage of our municipality.

It has been in force since 2001 and since then and until now no new building has been included in this protection plan, despite the fact that the City Council has the power to modify this document.

The socialist councilor Andrés Guerrero, in a defense of the importance of the maintenance of the architectural heritage, presents a motion in the next Plenary demanding that the City Government team include in this document 87 new buildings that meet characteristics that make them worthy of such protection .

"We are all convinced that it is necessary to preserve the history of our city, and one of the ways of doing so is by protecting those buildings that can be considered more emblematic," explains Guerrero.

"From the Municipal Socialist Group and listening to the opinions of the associations concerned with the historical culture of our city, we believe that we must defend the culture from all areas, including the architectural one. We do not understand why the City Council has ignored these neighborhood demands, but we will not allow this to continue happening. In the next plenary session we will defend the expansion of the PGOU building catalog "

"We need to defend our architectural heritage if we want our children to enjoy it in the future, if we want our heritage not to be lost among rubble," Guerrero concludes.
