The translator of ´Los Simpson´ and ´Perdidos´ participates this Monday in a translation meeting at the University of Murcia (21/02/2020)

The editorial translator Carlos Mayor will also participate in the meeting

The Translation and Interpretation Department of the University of Murcia, with the collaboration of the University Master's Degree in Editorial Translation (MUTE) and the Faculty of Letters, organizes this Monday, February 24, the 'VIII Meetings of Editorial Translation', which are they will celebrate in the Chamber of the Faculty of Letters, from 11 to 13 hours.

The day will feature the participation of two professional translators used to cope with the difficulties of multimedia translation and have achieved great success in their respective specialties:

María José Aguirre de Cárcer, audiovisual translator of series like 'The Simpsons',' Seinfeld ',' Lost ',' Futurama 'or' File X ', and movies like' Dogville ',' Johnny English ',' Conan the Barbarian ',' Maleficent ',' The hateful eight ',' The arrival ',' Ghostbusters', 'The jungle book', 'Beauty and the beast' or 'The return of Mary Poppins', among many others.

Carlos Mayor, editorial translator specialized in the translation of novels, essays, graphic novels and illustrated books;

work in which his translations of classic texts of Thomas Hardy, Emilio Salgari, John Steinbeck, Carlo Collodi or Rudyard Kipling stand out, as well as contemporary authors such as Tom Wolfe, Doris Lessing, Art Spiegelman or Toni Morrison.

The Editorial Translation Meetings aim to bridge the gap between the professional and academic world by putting translation students in front of professionals of recognized prestige within the world of editorial translation.

This edition will address the specific difficulties that are usually posed by both audiovisual translation and the translation of comics, graphic novels and illustrated albums, in which text and image tend to appear combined and that, consequently, may be conditioned by factors beyond the content strictly linguistic text.
