The NGO Blue Murcia in Action will hold on Thursday, February 27, at 8:30 p.m., a charity concert at the Romea Theater, by the Coral Discantus that will perform great hits of movie soundtracks and a program dedicated to gospel music and spiritual blacks.

The miracle of seeing

The concert, sponsored by Vista Ircovisión clinics, in which the City of Murcia collaborates, will benefit the project "The miracle of seeing."

A solidarity initiative of Azul en Acción that has allowed a team of 40 ophthalmology and opticians to travel to Senegal to serve almost 3,000 Senegalese affected by various eye diseases, children with congenital blindness, adults with disabling blindness and young people with low vision.

Azul en Acción celebrates this year two decades dedicated to the realization of international development cooperation projects in the fields of health, education, infrastructure construction, as well as specific projects to help in situations of major catastrophes and emergencies, campaigns of awareness and education for development, both in the municipality of Murcia and at the regional level, as well as campaigns to support disadvantaged groups.

58 cooperation projects

As a result of this work, the Murcia NGO has carried out a total of 58 development cooperation projects - in 50 of which the City of Murcia has collaborated - in the countries of Morocco, Mali, Mauritania, Cameroon, Senegal, Western Sahara , India, Peru, Burkina Faso and Togo;

3 emergency aid projects in El Salvador, Haiti and Lorca;

and 30 education and awareness campaigns for development in Murcia and many other municipalities in the Region.

Eye health

Regarding the eye health intervention projects, Azul en Acción has acted in Togo, India, Morocco and Senegal, where 32,814 people have been treated, while 2,893 have been operated on cataracts and more than 8,000 have received care and treatment for refractive defects

Woman

Regarding the initiatives for the promotion and development of women, from which more than 500 have benefited in the rural communities of the Sahara and High Atlas of Morocco, the Murcian NGO has carried out 18 projects, 6 micro-enterprises and 180 have been created women have participated in literacy actions and 65 in occupational training actions.

Schooling

Two of the basic pillars of Azul en Acción are the education and training of minors.

For this, they have carried out 25 projects of schooling, provision of school supplies, clothing, footwear, support for school transport, construction of educational infrastructure for children in the rural communities of the High Atlas and Sahara of Morocco, of which they have benefited some 3,750 children.

Institutional commitment and thanks

Councilwoman Paqui Pérez stressed that "from the Department of Seniors, Disability and Development Cooperation we will continue to promote these projects and support the cooperators who, altruistically and voluntarily, participate in initiatives and actions that help change the day-to-day life of many people".

The head of Development Cooperation, together with the mayor of Citizen Security, Eduardo Martínez Oliva, have invited Murcia to attend this charity concert showing, once again, their solidarity and generosity with the work that Azul en Acción has been developing since twenty years to help those who need it most ".
