Assido now stars in the planting of trees in Terra Natura within the Forest Plan (17/02/2020)

After a didactic explanation, a total of 22 users have participated in the activity with the help of their monitors and municipal operators.

The City Council is planting some 2,000 specimens around this natural park, in collaboration with various associations such as Aspapros, Fundown, Astrapace, Assido and Astrade.

The Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, Pepe Guillén, has attended today the plantation carried out by the Association for People with Down Syndrome (Assido) in Terra Natura, within the Forest Plan.

“We have proposed to move from 100,000 to 200,000 trees in the coming years and for this we need the involvement of the whole society.

Different social and neighborhood groups participate in this activity that we do today in Terra Natura and which aims to improve our environment â€, highlights José Guillén.

Specifically, after a didactic explanation, a total of 22 Assido users, with the help of four monitors and municipal operators, have carried out the planting of trees of different species.

Specifically, the following specimens of different sizes have been planted: five pines of the genus 'halepensis', another five of the type 'brachychiton';

and 10 trees of the species 'celtis australis', 3 and 4 meters each.

Through this initiative, the City Council is planting some 2,000 specimens around Terra Natura, in collaboration with the following disability associations: Aspapros, Fundown, Astrapace, Assido and, Astrade.

Neighborhoods, schools, urban and natural environments

The Foresta Plan is promoting new tree plantations in different educational centers in the municipality of Murcia, thus providing new shade spaces in recreational areas and raising awareness among the little ones about promoting sustainability.

Likewise, trees are being planted in city spaces such as the neighborhoods of San Pedro, San Antolín and San Nicolás, which will be extended to other urban and natural centers.

The Forest Plan has as its first objective the care of the environment and the promotion of sustainability.

They are excellent filters for urban pollutants and small particles, improve the environment, generate innumerable health benefits, create shade and improve temperature.

Murcia currently has about 4 million square meters of green areas distributed in the more than 3,000 parks and gardens of the city and districts.

In these areas, in addition to urban frameworks, there are more than 116,000 woodland specimens of 210 different species.
