More than 40 participants from public concessionaires, companies in the sector and other entities have proposed various initiatives from different fields for the development of the Circular Economy Strategy of the municipality, after the second sectorial table held on February 3.

In this way, the organizations identified actions that are being carried out, such as the consumption of renewable energy or energy efficiency, reuse, recycling and recovery of by-products for subsequent direct sale or the manufacture of new materials.

Participants have also pointed out initiatives such as water and waste treatment to produce high-value products, actions to reduce the consumption of water, energy and waste, the implementation of systems and tools to assess environmental impact, as well as training and awareness, sustainable mobility and in situ treatment of waste for use in agriculture.

From the conclusions of this table, the companies and attending entities pointed out the important role that each of the key actors should play, where, in the first place, the City Council stands out in collaboration with the rest of public administrations, citizens, companies, the educational community and other agents involved.

The Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, directed by Mercedes Bernabé, is responsible for carrying out the diagnosis for the implementation of the Circular Economy Strategy in the municipality.

This diagnosis aims to achieve the following objectives: identify the actions that are being developed in the municipality on circular economy, find new opportunities and detect possible barriers to the development of this strategy.
