In this first Council of the year the positive evolution of the food products sections has been revealed.
The Fruit and Vegetable Market has shot up 25.60% compared to the previous year.
The creation of more than 15 new jobs and the creation of an Ecological Products business line, a sector in full expansion, has also been reported.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, today chaired the Mercamurcia Board of Directors, in which the Annual Accounts corresponding to 2019 have been formulated, achieving economic results higher than the previous year, with a net amount close to 250,000 euros, which confirms the sustainable growth of the company.
In this first Council of the year, which was attended by the Councilor for Commerce, Markets and Public Road, Juan Fernando Hernández Piernas, the results of the commercialization of the entire Food Logistics Distribution Center at the end of the year 2019 were analyzed.
It is noteworthy that all sections related to food products have a positive evolution with respect to the results of the previous year, both in the Meat Complex, with an increase in marketing of 13.61% and in the Fruit and Vegetable Market with an increase of 25.60%.
As for the Fish Market, the increase has been 1.43%.
At the meeting, the Annual Operational Plan 2020 has also been presented, in which different actions are contemplated to continue with the fulfillment of the company's 2018-2021 Strategic Plan, whose objectives are aimed at continuous improvement, empowering Mercamurcia as a leading company in Corporate Social Responsibility, contributing to the social, economic and environmental improvement of its area of ​​influence.
The investments contemplated in this Operational Plan reach an amount superior to half a million euros, and in which are contemplated, among others, actions for the improvement of the conditions of energy efficiency of the facilities and general improvement with actions in each of the sections
Job creation and new ecological business line
It has also been reported the creation of more than 15 new jobs and the creation of a business line of Organic Products, a sector in full expansion that will involve the implementation of an activity aimed at the specialized distribution of fruits and organic production vegetables.
Finally, the Council has been informed of the organization of the I Solidarity Mercamurcia Career, whose route will run mostly through the interior of the facilities on April 5 and that in this first edition have as a beneficiary entity the Food Bank of the Segura, promoting in turn, sports practice and healthy eating.
