The XXVII Flamenco Summit brings the dance of jondo art to Belluga Square by La Serrata (11/02/2020)

The theaters Romea, Circo, Bernal and Belluga Square will be the stages for the celebration of the XXVII Flamenco Week of Murcia that will take place from February 20 to 29.

The Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, together with the artistic director the summit, Antonio Parra, today presented the program that will bring Murcia to names such as El Carpeta, Capullo de Jerez or La Serrata, in addition to different dance performances Flamenco for all ages, fashion shows and an exhibition.

In this way, the Flamenco Summit of Murcia will begin on Thursday, February 20, at the Teatro Circo with 'Pasión Flamenca', by the Spanish Ballet of Murcia of the company Carmen and Matilde Rubio.

The show presents a journey from 'nothingness', where the performers seek the connection with reality through music.

Mayte Martín will be on Friday, February 21, also at the Teatro Circo, with 'Memento'.

Accompanied by Alejandro Hurtado on guitar, the Catalan singer encourages the memory in this recital, in which she worships the past, "to that flamenco that bore me and to those who have made it this treasure that I spend."

The Bernal Theater will host, on February 22, the birth of Comares, a flamenco group formed by five women from the Sacromonte united by the same passion: traditional and jondo flamenco.

The singer Sonia Miranda will start the show with Antonio Luis López, on guitar.

One of the highlights of this edition will be the performance of El Carpeta that will present its show 'A dance' at the Romea Theater on Friday, February 28.

Manuel Fernández Montoya, accompanied by his brother Antonio Fernández Montoya, 'El Farru', will dance tirelessly looking for his space, showing the emblematic style of the Farruco and the new time he has had to live.

Manuel Flores Quirós 'Capullo de Jerez' will arrive, on February 29, at the Romea Theater to present his album 'My music', accompanied by Miguel Tena and Antonio Cárceres, on guitar.

The new work has nine songs, original and popular, adapted by himself, among which are rumbas, fandangos and bulerías.

"We are back, one more edition, to program shows of all the names of flamenco, young and old, classic and innovative to keep the Flamenco Summit as a prestigious brand in the Spanish flamenco world," said Councilman Jesús Pacheco.

Flamenco leaves Belluga Square

Flamenco will take to the streets on Saturday, 29 in the morning, at 12.30 pm, with a music show, singing, dancing and fashion show in the Plaza de Belluga that will be entitled 'From night to dawn'.

It will be time to see Natalia Delmar 'La Serrata', along with José Antonio Chacón (singing), Fran Tornero (guitar), Rocío Pinar (cello) and Alejandro Solano (percussion).

The dancer will offer a show divided into three parts, 'The night, the passion and the bolt', 'Between good and evil, between light and night' and 'Light, day, morning', with parade of models of the designer Rosa Ruiz.

The day will also feature the participation of dancers from different academies and dance schools.

A trip through Africa

The XXVII Flamenco Summit will bring to Murcia the exhibition 'Tientos tanta', by Onésimo Hernández.

This is a sample of 44 Flemish photographs created during a trip through Africa.

The exhibition, which can be seen in the hall of the Teatro Circo from February 21 to 29, shows the images of four different countries through a 4x4 trip in which the author tries to show “the universality of flamenco, the whole of emotions and feelings. "

Children's show

Children will also have a place in this year's programming.

The Circus Theater will host on Sunday February 23 the performance 'The tree with wings', by the company Anabel Veloso.

It is a children's show in which the little ones will discover the different flamenco clubs through the changing seasons of the year.
