Work begins that will increase the safety of the roundabout on El Palmar Avenue (11/02/2020)

The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, visited the road safety improvement works this morning at the roundabout on El Palmar Avenue, better known as the Alias roundabout.

The works, which have started this week and that are part of the Road Safety Improvement Plan of the municipality, seek to raise the safety levels of the users of this road and avoid accidents.

Thus, the work to be carried out includes the reinforcement of the existing signaling direction El Palmar-Murcia in the roundabout, taking advantage of the flag located about 70 meters, placing the roundabout pre-signaling.

Likewise, the horizontal and vertical signaling will be improved in order to produce a traffic calm.

For this, new road markings will be established (in its last section of the sound road marking) and milestones with reflective strips to reduce the two existing lanes to one, with the aim of reducing the speed of the vehicles that access the roundabout.

Subsequently, it will be determined if it is necessary to complement this action with the modification of the traffic light regulation that gives access to the roundabout from El Palmar, making it work as a speed control with pedestrian crossing.

This action is part of the Road Safety Improvement Plan of the municipality that includes a total of 16 actions in different ways to improve road safety for vehicles and pedestrians through actions that are mainly based on the installation of vehicle containment systems and the provision of horizontal and / or vertical signage with an approximate estimate of cost of realization of 52,000 euros.
