The City of Murcia allocates 88,000 euros to aid to promote energy efficiency and sustainable mobility (06/02/2020)

The Councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, has presented the new call for grants and the resolution of the year 2019 to promote sustainable mobility and energy savings in the municipality.

In this way, this year 2020 Murcia can receive assistance from different concepts such as the acquisition of electric bicycles, the installation of charging points for electric vehicles in communities of owners and the installation of photovoltaics for self-consumption for residential use.

“In the past year, 36 Murcia and 12 companies benefited from the city council subsidies.

This project promotes the acquisition, promotion and use of sustainable vehicles so that Murcia becomes a benchmark for low emissions and energy efficiency, â€said Navarro.

Thanks to the 2019 call, projects have been subsidized for an amount of 82,168 euros, of which 36 have been for the purchase of electric vehicles (34 bicycles and 2 motorcycles), 11 for charging points in public car parks and 1 for rental systems of motorcycles

Thus, thanks to this call, the city of Murcia will have in different car parks with points for recharging electric vehicles such as the Avenida de la Libertad Parking, Reina Sofía Hospital, Morales Meseguer Hospital, La Vega Hospital, Saavedra Fajardo and San Andrés , Centrofama, Simón García, Avenida Márquez de los Vélez and two in Acisclo Díaz.

The Local Electric Vehicle Strategy is the most important milestone in terms of support policies for the electric vehicle carried out so far in the City Council, which includes a total of 50 measures that seek to reduce pollutant emissions in Murcia and which was recognized in 2019 with the 'Renault Award for best practice in Sustainable and Accessible Mobility', in the category of Public Administration.

The strategy, which was approved in 2017 as a result of a participatory process, aims to define the lines of work on which to implement measures to promote electric mobility and create a framework for collaboration with the most relevant local actors to join forces and move forward a higher rate and comprehensively.

The City Council continues to advance in its strategic lines of Clean Air supporting measures that allow raising the environmental quality for the residents of the municipality, achieving a decarbonized city through a significant reduction of polluting emissions.
