The III edition of the Day of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, organized by the Association of Scientific Women of the Region of Murcia (Lyceum), will be held tomorrow, Friday, February 7 from 09: 30h in the Temple of the Jeronimos Monastery.

This event will include the participation of more than 500 students from Secondary and Baccalaureate Education Centers in the Region: Colegio Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, Colegio El Limonar, IES Francisco de Goya, IES Felipe II, Concerted College Mirasierra, La Inmaculada de Yecla and San Vicente de Paul (El Palmar and Cartagena).

The Catholic University, through the Office of the Vice President for Research, will promote through this event the scientific spirit among young people.

For this, the trajectory of Margarita Salas, one of the greatest Spanish scientists of the twentieth century who died last year, will be announced.

In addition, eleven young researchers from the scientific institutions of the Region will explain their research to the students, in order to show the multidisciplinarity of science and its promotion.

On this day they will present their research Rebeca González, Elena Marín, Mª Carmen Robles and Ana Lasheras (UCAM);

Raquel Gómez, Lorena Cuenca and Patricia Sebastián (UMU);

María del Carmen Martí and Raquel Sánchez (CEBAS);

and Victoria Artés and Ana Martínez (UPCT).

IMIB and IMIDA researchers will also be present.

It should be noted that, thanks to the sponsorship of the Banco de Santander, the prizes for "Young Scientists of the Region of Murcia 2019" will be awarded to the best scientific articles published in 2018-2019 by women in each of the 5 areas of knowledge.
