The person in charge of the Recruitment service in the City of Murcia, Mario Gómez, has announced that the municipal crane service will be reviewed next Monday, February 10, in the Contract Supervision Commission after detecting possible breaches of the contract.

Background

This is an extended concession that was tendered in 2016 for a term of three years, extendable to another three, and for an initial amount of 3.2 million euros.

A contract that is currently in the extension period and in whose offer it should have an area for the deposit of vehicles of about 2,000 m2, preferably roofed, close to the town center and with easy connection to public transport.

To comply with this requirement, the company that awarded the vehicle withdrawal service reached an agreement with the parking concessionaire to use part of its facilities as a vehicle depot.

Possible illegal assignment

In this way, the holder of Development has verified how the workers of the crane service of the municipal warehouse, located in the public parking of Los Pinos, perform a double function: the processing of withdrawal of vehicles by the municipal crane and the attention to the public and parking management, when it comes to two different concessions.

In addition, the workers have denounced to the Labor Inspectorate the company of the vehicle withdrawal service, apparently, for breach of the contract and non-payment of their payrolls, without counting, as Mario Gómez explained, "that they may be incurring a possible assignment of workers between two concessionary companies of the City of Murcia ".

To this situation, the person in charge of Contracting has added, "the bad state in which the public toilets of these facilities are found, as well as other deficiencies detected and breaches of the contract that will be addressed at the next meeting of the Supervisory Committee of Hiring ".

Parking contract

In parallel to the inspection of the crane service concession, Mario Gómez has reported that "we will also review the parking contract in order to verify if these events are also causing breaches in it."

"Since there is a government in coalition in the City of Murcia we are exercising greater control of the winning companies to guarantee, as is our obligation, that the obligations contracted are strictly complied with in order to offer the best public service and prevent the occurrence of deals of favor and flagrant breaches of them ", has ended.
