The socialist councilor Esther Nevado has verified that the training courses and gerontogimnasia activities of the major centers are not being held and "it will take several more months until they can be carried out, since for the implementation of these activities it is necessary to leave to tender the contract specifications that will carry them out and, for the moment, there is no movement in this regard. "

"We are facing programs that are fixed every year, it is nothing new that needs more time to be ready," says the councilor, who indicates that the 76 social centers of the elderly have a total of partners that are around 35,000 people and "these facilities form a network that enables the participation of the elderly, thus promoting an active and integrated life."

Therefore, "in Socialist Municipal Group it is serious that time passes without municipal day-to-day issues are not resolved."

Nevado states that "this contract must be launched as soon as possible so that the partners of these centers can enjoy the activities throughout the year, the delays are not good for anyone and, of course, with the pressing problem of loneliness in the elderly and the need to offer activities that energize them, this situation does not help anything and, therefore, should not be repeated. "

Remember that the City Council annually subsidizes a training program, as well as gerontogimnasia, both being highly demanded activities.

"We are worried about the delay and consider that the beginning of the same ones can be delayed too much with the damage that this would suppose for the users of the same".

Therefore, the councilor demands that "the procedures for the implementation of the contract be initiated and that it is guaranteed that they will begin during the first quarter of the year. Likewise, we require that social clauses be included in the contract documents , as allowed by the Contract Law, which enable companies that opt ​​for them to meet these criteria. "
