The Cycling Tour of the Region of Murcia celebrates its 40th edition on February 14 and 15 with a 357-kilometer route (04/02/2020)

The test consists of two stages: a first from Los Alcázares to Caravaca and a second from Santomera to Murcia.

It will have the participation of 18 teams, made up of 126 runners, among which José Joaquín Rojas, Rubén Fernández, Antonio Jesús Soto, Luis León and Alejandro Valverde stand out.

The 40th edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia-Banco Sabadell Grand Prix will start on February 14 from Los Alcazares.

This was announced today by the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, along with the Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, María Cristina Sánchez, the regional director of Murcia Banco Sabadell, Carmelo Vera, and the general director of La Vuelta, Paco Guzmán, from the Plaza Cardenal Belluga.

The test consists of a total of 357.2 kilometers divided into two stages: the first with departure at Los Alcázares and arrival at Caravaca de la Cruz, which will comprise a 177.6 km stretch;

and the second with departure from Santomera and arrival in the city of Murcia, which will be 179.6 km.

In its 40th edition, the Cilista Tour of the Region of Murcia will have the participation of 18 teams (ten Pro Team and four of Continental category) composed of a total of 126 runners, coming from 21 countries from different parts of the world.

As for the presence of runners, the five Murcia who are part of the international squad stand out: José Joaquín Rojas, Rubén Fernández, Antonio Jesús Soto, Luis León and Alejandro Valverde.

You have to add runners like Eric More, Marc Soler, Gorka Izaguirre, Omar Fraile or Alexey Lutsenko.

Councilman Felipe Coello has highlighted the opportunity once again that "Murcia is the scene of a stage finale, a test marked by the best teams and the most outstanding cyclists."

The Cycling Tour, in two stages

The 40th edition of the Cycling Tour of the Region of Murcia-Grand Prix Banco Sabadell is a total journey of 357 kilometers that runners will make in two stages.

The first one will be on February 14 from the municipality of Los Alcázares to that of Caravaca de la Cruz with a distance of 177.6 kilometers.

It is a section of medium profile in which some reference points stand out, such as the ascent to the top of the Garapacha or the ascent of the ramps of the Basilica de la Vera Cruz.

The second stage will be on February 15 and will depart from the municipality of Santomera until reaching the city of Murcia, specifically with a goal in the Gran Vía Escultor Salzillo.

It is a route of 179.6 kilometers in which points such as the ascent to Espuña, Cima Pantani or Alto de Gebas stand out.

The Cycling Tour of the Region is sponsored by the Autonomous Community, Primafrio Foundation, Aguas de Santomera, Estucalia Group, Archena Spa, Model Sport, Kia Talleres M. Gallego and Grupo Caliche, in addition to collaborating municipalities, such as Los Alcázares , Caravaca de la Cruz, Santomera and Murcia.
