Puente Bacon improves its green spaces with the remodeling of two of its most emblematic gardens (02/02/2020)

The City Council has begun with the renovation works of the Tomás y Valiente garden and the Juan García Oliver square.

The Forest Plan will also arrive with the planting of new trees to this Murcian district, which will also have a canine recreation area.

"The inhabitants can enjoy spring with new reference spaces, whose work will improve, not only the aesthetics of the town, but also the quality of life of citizens," said Councilman José Guillén.

The Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, has met with the president of the Municipal Board of Puente Tocinos, Marta Cano, to present the projects that will be carried out in the district, as well as the actions of improvement in its green areas.

In this way, Puente Tocinos will release two completely renovated gardens for spring.

Councilor José Guillén affirms that work has already begun in the Tomás y Valiente garden, “a park surrounded by houses which gives it a natural fence and, therefore, a perfect ecosystem for the development of children's activities and games of all kinds "

The garden will be divided into different rooms for its use and operation: one for sports activities, a living area for the use and enjoyment of neighbors with new urban furniture and large areas of walk with shade;

and a children's space with modern game elements.

Sports such as football, pimpon and petanque can be performed and the little ones will have a playful area with attractive game pieces, based on insects such as an ant, a ladybug and a spider.

All of them large-scale and fully equipped.

This space will also have a perimeter security fence and new pavement.

The Tomás y Valiente garden will also stand out for the expansion of its green areas.

It will have two central flower beds with turfgrass, various shrub species and varied woodland, which will try to cover the park with natural shade.

This will also include a more modern irrigation system that can efficiently supply the entire park.

In the same way, the remodeling of the Juan García Oliver square stands out, whose proposal contemplates the renovation of the pavement and urban furniture.

Thus, the area destined for pedestrian traffic will be paved with concrete pavers, while the area destined for plantations will have a large planter for trees and flower species.

"The inhabitants of Puente Tocinos can enjoy spring with new reference spaces, whose work will improve, not only the aesthetics of the town, but also the quality of life of citizens," said Councilman José Guillén.

In addition to these projects, the meeting has tried to carry out the maintenance of other green areas of the hamlet, to cover other squares and parks with shade, to carry out the remodeling of the Pepe Pardo garden, to renew the rubber of the areas of children's play, as well as the construction of a canine recreation area, for which permission will be requested from the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) to be able to locate it on one of its lands.

The Forest Plan will be another of the actions contemplated in this Murcia town.

Thus, it has been agreed to locate different spaces to carry out the planting of new trees.

Puente Tocinos is one of the districts also framed in Plan Alberca, because in this strategy of the City Council there are two of its sources, that of the Casa Torre del Reloj and that of Avenida Juana Jugán, which will be inaugurated in a few weeks.

Within the framework of Smart City

Aligned with the Smart City municipal strategy, an intelligent irrigation system will be installed that will regulate water consumption, depending on weather conditions, soil moisture and plantation needs.

“We continue working, in a continuous way, in our parks and gardens to improve the quality of life of Murcia with more green areas, more spaces for healthy leisure, healthy environments, thus contributing to the improvement of our environment with works like these â€, Highlights Councilman José Guillén.
