The City Council is immersed in 25 investment projects worth more than twenty-five million euros from the European Union (01/02/2020)

The City Council is currently working on a total of 25 municipal projects financed with funds from the European Union for a value of 25,587,735.07 euros.

The financing of these projects is the responsibility of the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, which Mercedes Bernabé directs, through the European Programs Service of the session.

The investment received is part of two of the great strategies led by the municipal corporation: the DUSI Strategy (Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development) Murcia IT, Innovation + Tradition, which has a global budget of 17,588,716.25 euros, and the Murcia Smart City strategy, with the project 'MiMurcia: Your Smart, Close, Open and Innovative City Hall', which has a budget of 7,999,018.82 euros.

Both strategies finance two city models, the territorial model and the intelligent model, included in the Murcia 2020 Strategy, as a result of the work tables of the Social Council of the City of the previous mandate.

On the one hand, the DUSI Strategy contemplates investment projects in different strategic lines.

It is worth highlighting sustainable mobility, with the introduction of bike lanes in the municipality and pedestrianization works of Alfonso X El Sabio.

Of vital importance has also been the valuation line of urban heritage elements, with projects such as the expansion of the Interpretation Center of the Archaeological Ensemble of the Wall of Santa Eulalia, the execution of the Tourist Itinerary of the Wall of Murcia and its Doors, the rehabilitation and putting into use of phase I the former provincial prison or the remodeling of the Palm Grove of Peace, as well as the rehabilitation of module 1 and 2 of the Artillery Barracks.

The DUSI Strategy also includes the actions that are being carried out with the Murcia Río project in its urban section, with the adaptation of the right side of the river for recreational use and the revegetation of the left side or the River Segura River Walk.

Other actions aimed at the revitalization of neighborhoods are those that are being carried out in El Carmen and La Paz within the framework of the Urban DNA project.

On the other hand, the project 'MiMurcia: Your Smart, Close, Open and Innovative City Council' will be the platform to bring the city council closer to the citizens, personalizing the citizen's information based on its context, location and momentum.

The project also contemplates the development of an ICT platform that allows changing the paradigm of communication between citizen and city council, so that the institution makes available to the user its different services and sources of information to deliver, at all times, the information You need and according to the type of interaction you want.

Both projects are 80% financed by the European Regional Development Fund for the 2014-2020 period.
