The construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Cañadas de San Pedro goes one step further (30/01/2020)

The Municipal Plenary has unanimously approved in its session this morning the municipal appreciation sheets corresponding to the plots necessary for the execution of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Project in Cañadas de San Pedro.

This new facility, which will be built on 9 plots acquired by the City Council that total a total area of 13,012 m2, will serve 366 homes in the town, which so far have septic tanks.

The construction of this infrastructure constitutes a joint action of the regional and local administrations.

Thus, the project has been drafted by the General Directorate of Water, while the City Council is responsible for making available to the Autonomous Community the land necessary to undertake the work and, once executed, will be managed and maintained by the Local Administration , which will incorporate it into the general sanitation and purification network of the municipality.

The estimated budget for the construction of the treatment plant amounts to 3.4 million euros.

Simultaneously, the City Council and Aguas de Murcia will execute the collector - with a total length of 3,242 ml - and the equipment of three pumping stations to conduct the wastewater from the built-up areas of the district to the WWTP.

Currently, the urban center of Cañadas de San Pedro does not have a sewerage network, an infrastructure that is installed in the Monte Blanco and Brugarolas urbanizations but, since there is no treatment plant, they lack a sanitation service.

With the development of this project, the wastewater that is evacuated through these pipes will reach the new treatment plant, allowing two objectives that are part of the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy of Murcia to be met: the protection of natural systems (protect and improve the water cycle in urban environments) and improve the quality of life of citizens through the provision of sanitation services.

On the other hand, the Plenary has also definitively approved, the Special Urban Planning Plan for the Qualification of Protected Residential Land in the Unit of Action II of the Partial Plan of the sector ZM-Sa1 in Santo Ángel.

This will allow the construction of protected housing in this district.

The Acting Unit II has an area of 14,420 m2, of which approximately 3,700 m2 are allocated to General Systems.

The total residential buildable amounts to 9,166.84 m2, of which 4,542.25 m2 (49.55%) goes to Protected Housing, which means the construction of approximately 48 homes, approximately, and 4,624.59 m2 ( 50.45%) are used for free housing, which will mean the construction of approximately 50 homes.
