Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy has started today with the presentation of the Winter Season from the Romea Theater.

MasterChef Samantha Vallejo-Nágera has been the master of ceremonies of this inaugural gala, with which she begins a program of events and activities that will value the richness of regional cuisine.

It has been an act full of surprises, as the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, has delivered to the TV chef Gold earrings in the shape of a paparajote, making reference to one of the most characteristic symbols of the Murcian orchard.

Representatives of all the municipalities, as well as different entities of the gastronomic sector of the Region have also not wanted to miss the ceremony, chaired by the Tourism, Youth and Sports Council, María Cristina Sánchez.

The music has come in charge of the Murcian groups Maldita Nerea and Viva Suecia, which have offered the public some of their most popular songs.

The sweetest moment has come with a tasting of 1,500 chocolate monkeys from Murcian pastry chefs.

The act has been followed by many citizens, not only from the Theater, with all the complete locations, but also from the street through giant screens, installed in the Plaza Julián Romea, and from home, since the ceremony has been transmitted live on 7 TV.

Samantha Vallejo-Nágera has conducted the gala with journalists Luis Alcázar and Fran Sáez, who have been revealing some of the details of the first season, which will start with forums of ideas and meetings with all the agents related to gastronomy and food .
