The Asomada Observatory joins the implementation of the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda (26/01/2020)

The local Asomada Observatory is an instrument of knowledge and analysis of the socio-economic reality of the municipality of Murcia.

Its objective is to analyze the evolution of the urban reality of the municipality of Murcia, anticipate the processes of change, the problems derived from the new social and economic realities, as well as being an effective tool to improve municipal actions within the framework of the guidelines community

The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, has met with members of this organization to schedule various actions within the framework of the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda, as well as measuring its implementation.

In this way, this entity works around three thematic areas related to the aspects that make up the urban context: one focused on the competitiveness of the economic structure;

another about social sustainability;

and, finally, the environmental field.

In the words of Mercedes Bernabé, “in the new programming period of the European Commission 2021-2027, the observatory is a key piece to measure progress in the implementation of the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda, in which the City Council is a pilot experience to national level, qualified by the Ministry of Development â€.

The 'Murcia en Cifras' website is the information visualization tool of the Observatory, a service that offers information on the socio-economic reality of the municipality and aimed at citizens and social and economic agents.

Through this portal, visitors can learn about the evolution of the urban reality of the municipality, with information on the aspects that make up the urban context: the competitiveness of the economic structure, social sustainability, and environmental sustainability.

“Likewise, the website has a specific section in which the socioeconomic reality experienced in the districts is collected, providing information on unemployment data, economic activity or productive sectors of each one of them,†explains Bernabé.

The information contained in the portal is obtained, for the most part, from data from secondary sources, but, far from being a mere statistical repertoire, with these data reports and working documents are prepared that allow an improvement in its accessibility and understanding, through careful design and a very visual format.
