The University of Murcia reports the news of the EBAU to secondary schools (22/01/2020)

The University of Murcia, an institution that coordinates and organizes the Baccalaureate Assessment for University Access (EBAU), has informed the Secondary schools of the Region of Murcia of the news that the test will have this year.

This informative session to the EBAU coordinators in the institutes was given by the Vice Chancellor for Studies, Sonia Madrid;

the Vice Chancellor for Students and Community Services, Paloma Sobrado;

and the EBAU coordinator, Joaquín Lomba.

A total of 152 center representatives attended.

The main novelty of this year's EBAU is the change of test dates, following the decision that the September exams take place in the month of July.

This decision was taken in order to harmonize the calendar with that of most autonomous communities.

Therefore, the June EBAU will be held on days 3, 4 and 5;

while the extraordinary call will take place from July 1 to 3.

On the other hand, and as a result of a project developed jointly with the technical teams of the General Directorate of Educational Innovation and Attention to Diversity, the University of Murcia has updated for this course the adaptation measures for students with special educational needs.

The most prominent change in this regard is that they will have 30 minutes of extra time to complete each exam;

when so far it was 15 minutes.

In this way the UMU unifies criteria with other university districts.

This modification will change the exam schedules slightly over other years, as there will be more rest between tests for all students.

As regards the development of the test, some of the novelties explained to the institutes are related to the measures to avoid fraud in the exams.

In this aspect the prohibition of carrying any object on the wrists is introduced, which will have to be completely cleared.

Nor can the exam be done with pendants, necklaces or brooches.

Only in those classrooms where there is no clock on the wall will a clock be allowed on the table, which in no case may be a smart watch.

In addition, students must have the auditory pavilions continuously cleared and visible during the exam.

These new measures are added to those already known that prohibit the use of non-approved calculators and have mobiles or tablets during the exams.

In any case, if the phones or tablets enter the classroom, they should be left in the backpacks and it will not be enough that they are silent or in airplane mode, but they will have to be completely turned off.

During the meeting it was recalled that there is the possibility of frequency tracking in the classroom at any time, in order to detect electronic devices that, contrary to the norm, remain on.

Failure to comply with any of these issues or the detection of any fraudulent means linked to the conduct of the exam will result in the cancellation of the evidence of the person or persons involved.

With regard to the correction, some changes may be launched this year aimed at the better management of the organization of the courts.

In particular, the correction times of some especially bulky materials are increased.

The teaching staff responsible for correcting the tests will no longer receive the exams once the test is finished, but in a phased manner;

so those who evaluate the exercises of the first day in the morning will have 48 more hours to correct, and 24 hours more who take care of the exams of the first day in the afternoon and the second day.

Finally, it was also informed during the meeting of the changes already known that this year will come into force and that affect the weighting of some subjects.

The current weighting table in 2019 of the University of Murcia is no longer in force.

The new one, published months ago, contemplates a more homogeneous treatment in related titles, reinforces the value of the second language as merit of access to titles, and recognizes the mainstreaming of mathematics in all of them;

In addition to other specific changes.
