These are some ingredients that make up 'Murcia, a city, a thousand lives', the video presented this morning by the mayor of Murcia, Jos Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Employment, Economic Promotion and Tourism, Pedro Garca, at the International Fair of Tourism, FITUR 2020, in an act prior to the transfer of the Gastronomic Capital of Almeria 2019 to Murcia 2020.

During the presentation, Jos Ballesta reported on the latest figures of the tourism sector in the municipality of Murcia, where the number of travelers in four years has increased by 35%, from 356,854 in 2015 to 480,783 registered travelers in 2019. On the other hand, overnight stays have increased by 36.27%, reaching the historical figure of 784,656 in 2019.

Workers in the tourism sector in the municipality of Murcia have also increased from 2015 to 2019, from 537 workers in accommodation services to 676, an increase of 26.06%.

Likewise, workers who work in food and beverage services have increased, from 10,917 workers in 2015 to 13,305 in 2019, an increase of 21.87%.

“Our cultural heritage is closely linked to our identity, which also has its roots in those unique spaces and places of our city.
