Huermur denounces again the foams appeared today in the Segura River as it passes through Murcia (21/01/2020)

Huermur denounces the white foams that have reappeared in the Segura River as it passes through the city of Murcia, and just after becoming public this week a report from the Segura Hydrographic Confederation where it indicates wastewater discharges without treating the river.

The conservation entity will submit the corresponding complaints and requests for information before the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, the Ministry of Environment of the Autonomous Community, and the City of Murcia.

Huermur will send in the next few days a letter to the fourth Vice President and Minister for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, requesting solutions and direct intervention from Madrid to curb the poor state of the Segura River in Murcia.

The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and Heritage of Murcia (Huermur) denounces the new appearance of white foams in the Segura river channel as it passes through the city of Murcia today.

A situation that is repeated every time it rains, and this time coincides with the publication this week of a report that the Segura Hydrographic Confederation itself has sent to Huermur, and where spills to the Segura river of untreated sewage are reported.

From Huermur they point out that this situation has been dragging for a long time and is nothing new, as well as criticizing that the Segura Hydrographic Confederation has been moving papers and opening files for years without being able to solve these episodes of foams.

In the same sense, Huermur reproaches the Ministry of Environment of the Autonomous Community for their lack of interest in collaborating, since they have not even deigned to respond to the complaints presented by the conservation group.

Huermur demands from all the administrations involved exemplary measures to put an end to these foams at once, since those responsible for the administration must strictly ensure the protection of the river and its ecosystem, and to maintain an adequate environmental state of the Segura to its passage through the capital of the Region.

In the same vein, the president of Huermur, Sergio Pacheco, said: “It is unworthy that every time it rains Murcia we have to attend this embarrassing picture, while those responsible for the administration do not stop dizzy partridge and they don't solve the problem â€, adding that“ What tourism do we want to bring to Murcia, if when they take to Segura, what they will see is a dying river full of foams that smell like detergent? Real solutions are needed â€.
