The City Council continues with the second phase of the remodeling of the median of Avenida Primero de Mayo (18/01/2020)

The actions have begun with the removal of trees, which are transplanted to the Mayayo municipal nursery for subsequent location in Murcia gardens.

These works are a continuation of those started at the beginning of 2018 in the first section of this artery, tasks that are part of the improvement plan of the new medium-sized contract.

"It continues like this with the improvement of our green spaces, always giving priority to the security of the neighbors and looking for environmental improvements of our surroundings and of the quality of life and the image of our city", emphasizes the councilor José Guillén.

The City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, directed by José Guillén, continues with the remodeling of the median of Avenida Primero de Mayo.

This is the rehabilitation project to improve visibility in the area and beautify the artery that gives entry to the Víctor Villegas Regional Auditorium, one of the busiest avenues daily within the city.

This action is contemplated within the plan of improvements of the contract of maintenance of medium of Murcia.

In this way, the works belong to lot 2 of the new Parks and Gardens contract.

The actions that are being carried out at the moment give continuity and conclude those started at the beginning of 2018 in the first section of the Avenue.

Winter cold is used to successfully transplant tree species, as was done a few months ago with those in phase one.

Specifically, the remodeling of section two will now be carried out, from the Víctor Villegas Regional Auditorium to the roundabout with Pablo VI.

Thus, "the shrub mass has been reduced following the neighborhood requests to avoid any health problem, while improving the image of this strategic axis of Murcia," explains Councilman José Guillén.

"The existing trees have been transplanted to the Mayayo municipal nursery, where they are now, for their subsequent location in Murcia gardens and districts," said the mayor.

Also, for this it is necessary to carry out an intense pruning of these, always following the necessary measures for their better conservation.

The mayor adds that, in addition, the entire section will be repopulated with new species, thus achieving a visual improvement, which joins the reform of the curbs and the installation of the median irrigation system.

"In short, we continue with the improvement of our green spaces, always giving priority to the safety of the neighbors and contributing with these actions to the improvement of the aesthetics of our city and the quality of life of Murcia," said Councilman José Guillen
