The presidents of the Municipal and District Boards will receive information on the new public procurement procedures (16/01/2020)

The first deputy mayor and councilor for Development, Mario Gomez, will hold a meeting with the presidents of the Municipal and District Boards, starting at six in the afternoon, in the Assembly Hall of the building attached to the City Hall, to Inform them about the Public Sector Contract Law and the changes that will occur in the contracting procedures of the City of Murcia to adapt them to current legislation.

A clean and transparent model

The mayor of Development and responsible for the contracting service will transfer to those responsible for the Boards the need to apply these changes to move towards a clean and transparent operating model that guarantees competitive competition and equal opportunities in bidding processes .

Minor contracts, at the slightest expression

In this regard, Gomez will insist on the importance of ending finger awards and other irregular practices that obscure the bidding procedures and violate the Public Sector Contract Law and the Competition Law.

"From the Recruitment service we want the best offers to be taken out through transparent, clean and rigorous processes," said the mayor of Development.

In this sense, it will affect the need to reduce smaller contracts to a minimum, depending on their exceptional nature.

"These contracts encourage corruption and should be reduced as soon as possible, leaving this figure for those cases that occur and unplanned," he said.

Neighborhood and district needs

Also, during the work meeting, the Councilor for Development will ask the presidents of the Municipal and District Boards to provide a list of investments that are necessary in each neighborhood and district.

"In this way we will establish an order of priorities for the 2020 budgets," he concluded.
