La Paz children's school opens as the best-performing public center in Murcia (16/01/2020)

The new center, which has meant an investment of 917,620 euros, has 9 classrooms, a large dining room and a large recreation area.

It serves a hundred children from 0 to 3 years.

José Ballesta said that "the opening of this nursery responds to a historic neighborhood claim" and stressed that "investing in education is investing in the future, providing children with comfortable and safe facilities of the highest educational quality."

A children's school with the best benefits, spacious and bright classrooms built with high quality materials, a large recreation area, large dining room, and facilities that guarantee the safety and comfort of the little ones, equipped with air conditioning and underfloor heating .

More than 2,500m2 useful between the educational area, the access and the patio and the recreation area that have involved an investment of 917,620 euros in the neighborhood of La Paz.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the Councilor for Education and Infantile Schools, Belén López, visited this public educational environment that serves a total of 99 children, after the recent transfer of the provisional modules to the new facilities.

This is "the most modern and best-performing nursery school in the municipality," said José Ballesta, who added that "the City of Murcia has a double commitment to the neighborhood of La Paz, an educational commitment, but also social."

The new nursery school has modern facilities, comfortable and equipped with all the necessary resources for children to find the best conditions.

The works began last summer and have had a deadline of 14 months.

The building has been built on one floor and has a total of nine classrooms, of which four units have been reserved for the stage of 2 to 3 years, another three for children under 1 to 2 years, and two classrooms with zone change and independent cribs, for babies from 0 to 1 year.

The classrooms are located with south and east orientations, around the main area of ​​the playground.

One million euros of investment

The nursery is located on a municipal plot located on Juana Jugán Avenue and Mathé Telegraph Street, with an area of ​​2,653 square meters, and both its facade and its main access are located towards the existing public garden, equipped with a palm grove that the City Hall , through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization, is also tuning.

This green zone is thus integrated into the itinerary to leave or enter the nursery school, while another access is enabled for the service area (warehouses, kitchen, etc.), located on the southern edge of the plot, facing the street Telegraphist Mathé.

The City Council has invested in the new nursery school 889,013 euros, 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the framework of the Operational Program for Sustainable Growth 2014-2020, with the DUSI Murcia IT strategy: Innovation + Tradition.

A palm grove with a large fountain welcomes children

A palm grove with a large fountain of 175 square meters receives children in the new nursery in La Paz, at the main entrance, which overlooks Juana Jugán Avenue.

The City Council is finalizing a green environment that will be completed with the renovation of the fountain and the planting of different trees in the indoor play areas of the nursery.

With respect to the source, which is part of the Pool Plan, the demolition of the current vessel and the execution of a new one is being carried out by means of the reinforced concrete slab, for which waterproofing treatments will be carried out in order to avoid problems of water.

It will have 40 water jets and the installation will also have new underwater LED lights.

The City Council subsidizes 89% of the service to families

The municipality of Murcia has a total of 7 municipal nursery schools, an unregulated educational service that the City Council assumes and that serves more than 545 children between 0 and 3 years old.

Schools remain open 11 months a year, with extended hours outside of school hours.

Families pay an educational fee that depends on family income and ranges between 16 and 83 euros per month.

The percentage that families contribute to the global budget of the service is 11%, while the City of Murcia takes care of the remaining 89%.

Specifically, the municipality has the centers of La Paz, in Murcia;

Our Lady of Fuensanta, in Santiago el Mayor;

La Emita, in La Alberca;

El Lugarico, in El Palmar;

San Roque, provisionally in El Palmar;

Our Lady of the Angels, in Sangonera;

and the children's school of Beniaján.

These centers are divided into three different types of classrooms: classroom nest, for children under one year, classroom 1, for babies between one and two years, and classroom 2, for children between two and three years.

Among the services provided by the Municipal Infantile Schools of Murcia, the program for the integration of children with special educational needs stands out, as well as advice in collaboration with the early care team;

Professional staff qualified in the educational work, who also receive training courses and pedagogical innovation projects for the professionals of the centers.

The centers are conditioned for heat and cold and have furniture adapted to the needs of children.

The relationship between the family and the school is carried out through individual interviews, classroom meetings, information documents and evaluations, as well as the participation of parents in the School Councils.
