The PSOE claims that the City Council lead the expansion of the West Industrial Estate and improve transport, parking and sidewalks (14/01/2020)

The Socialist Municipal Group has once again visited the West Industrial Estate, where it has met with its president, Antonio Castillo, to verify the situation it is currently in and make proposals that enhance this great infrastructure that currently hosts 1,130 companies.

Councilwoman Carmen Fructuoso explains that "the crisis and the little push of the municipal and regional administrations have made a dent in this polygon that ten years ago housed 1,500 companies and now we find just over 1,100".

He adds that "this park is less because of the little interest of the Autonomous Community and the City Council itself that have not decidedly committed in recent years to make the necessary investments, forgetting that the West Industrial Estate has been a national benchmark by size and turnover ".

Therefore, the councilor believes that "we must not abandon those infrastructures, investments and projects that are the hallmark of our municipality, so we believe that it should be the City of Murcia who leads the empowerment of the West Industrial Estate, as an economic engine and business ", and that for this it allies with the Community and the SEPE.

Precisely, one of the main demands is the need for expansion, but they also have a serious problem with public transport and require more bus lines.

In this sense, Fructuoso recalls the socialist proposal, presented during the last municipal election campaign, called 'West Connect' and consisting of creating access routes from different points of the municipality through buses to the West Industrial Estate.

However, it is also necessary the asphalting of many streets, construction of sidewalks, more lighting, cleaning, even security.

In this regard, another requirement raised in the aforementioned meeting is the reopening of the fire station.

For the Socialist councilor, "all the improvements and investments made in the Polygon will benefit the entire municipality, mainly to nearby towns," and insists that these facilities should concentrate the main focus of job creation.

"With the due expansion and improvement, the West Industrial Estate could accommodate many of the companies scattered around the garden and do not have the necessary services, there would even have to be a business incubator," says Fructuoso as socialist proposals.

In this sense, he points out that "this park remains a unique economic hub in the municipality thanks to the workers and businessmen themselves and we must continue to strive so that it never ceases to be so, which is achieved by investing and betting on greater accessibility, more services and more offer. "

Finally, he points out that "we are going to bet on the fulfillment of the desire of the businessmen of the polygon to reach the first position within the Mediterranean Arc and we will also support the request of the 'Q' of Quality".
